Quinn Hughes Mega thread: Top in points, Norris consideration, MVP and Canucks fans hearts

No one said that Makar is significantly injured, nor that he’s the best player in the league at offense and defense, nor that defensive hits are unique to him. Good lord.

Someone is just coping that despite Hughes having a phenomenal year, the odds for the Norris indicate that it is indeed a very close race between the two, with Hughes having a slight edge as of right now.

Makar missed all of training camp and a few games this year due to a nagging injury and he’s still neck and neck with Hughes. This isn’t an opinion, it’s facts.
Tell it to the slice of guys saying Makar is better this year “AINEC”.

Yeah you’ll always get some bad fans who are blindly loyal and discredit other teams players which is unfortunate.
You’re literally in this thread thread talking about “Canucks fans” collectively disrespecting Makar., instead of noting “a few” or “some”. It’s part of why these conversations devolve as well. And no I’m not defending the Canucks fans who do the same (I’ve probably got them on ignore already).

…Canuck fans don’t give Makar proper credit for what he’s already accomplished…

I guess I’m seeing it differently than you are because all I see are Nucks fans trying to convince people that Hughes is winning the Norris in a landslide…

There are many Canucks fans - I would argue a majority - saying Makar is great and it is a close race, maybe with Hughes ahead. Which is fine. Just as it’s fine to argue Makar is ahead if you want. And I think I’ve seen many Avs fans acknowledging the same thing.

Feels like you’re only looking for conflict and willing to generalize.

For reference, I have Hughes ahead for the Norris so far (lots of season to go) and Makar ahead for career (easily because he’s super talented but also had more chances to shine).

It goes without saying that when I say “Canucks fans” it doesn’t mean all of them. I’m not looking for conflict so next time I will include it.

I just hope that SOME Canucks fans who believe Hughes is already on Makar’s tier for his career realize that there are levels to greatness.

According to some, winning a Norris and Conn Smythe in the same season wouldn’t elevate Hughes to the highest level of greatness amongst other greats because he’s already there.

Some don’t realize that by diminishing Makar’s accomplishments, you’re simultaneously doing it to Hughes if he were to ever accomplish those things as well.

Makar has won one Norris by a razor thin edge over Josi. Let’s tone down the levels of greatness stuff.
Right now for me it’s his Cup run where he won the Conn Smythe that sets him apart.
If (and it’s still a big if) Hughes wins this year then both still have their full careers ahead to see where they end up.

Makar would have 3 Norris’ already, if he wasn’t a bandaid. Lol

When you have Poulin and Dreger taking Hughes over Makar (going forward) 10 games into the season, red flags are going off.
Of course. It’s only natural to take mentions of an American CANUCKS player who had a blazing hot start after ascending to a captaincy as evidence of a Canadian media conspiracy. No other explanation is reasonable.

Canadian bias exists in hockey, but… yeah.

Yes, it does.

In their rookie season they were on the same level. Makar jumped ahead in the years following. Quinn took another step this season (even going back to last season honestly) & is on that level now too at the top of the league.

As a Canucks fan Quinn's my favourite player of all-time. I just enjoy watching him & how great he is.

BUT ALSO, as a Canadian I'm glad Makar is as good as he is b/c that USA team is looking stacked, and we're gunna need him. And for Avs fans it should theoretically be the same the other way.

I've been apart of the arguments too, but at this point that's just kinda how I see it. Fruitless & tired.

Psst, the panels disagree on purpose so that they never have to take a side and isolate a fan base.

They don't actually believe the things they say.

Hughes is 1 year younger though... there I said it, suck my tits dry.
So…. Last year Hughes should have won a Norris, Conn Smythe and a Stanley cup because he’s a year younger, but didn’t make the playoffs. There I said it….

This isn’t a Makar thread. I’m sure Avs fans didn’t appreciate Hughes fanboys highjacking a Makar thread either.

Some of you need to see the sun.
lol! Do you think everyone is going to come into a Quinn Hughes thread and sing his praises. Fans are fans and sport is sport. He’s a good player But I personally hope someone puts his head through the boards. Keep up the good work Quinn . Break a leg!!!! lol!! It’s all fun fan banter. Hope he gets traded to jersey

What does what I said have to do with singing his praises? Did you even read what I said? You hope someone puts Hughes’ head through the boards? You need to reevaluate your life choices, maybe try drafting your comments first and sleeping on it before you post it, then deleting it after you realize how invested you are in wishing harm on another player because you don’t like him and he threatens your favorite player.

Do you know what the topic of the thread is? It’s designed to praise him and his accomplishments. You can make another thread about how much Makar is better if you’d like to feed your insecurities.

Just having some fun champ

I don't think it's a conspiracy. Just that the media runs with their own narratives.

The point is, Hughes has pretty much been appointed the Norris already. So unless he get's hurt, or Makar significantly outplays him down the stretch, Hughes will win.

Makar is generational because of what he has accomplished already, Quinn is behind in accomplishments, but he is capable to catch up in hardware, I believe this statement will be agreed by both fanbases. He needs to win this year's Norris to cement his status as an equal going forward because statistically this is shaping up to be Makar's prime also.

After half the season most pundits agree that Quinn is ahead, the fans don't. Nobody cares about fans though lol. My one gripe about Makar since his draft year is that he is a big time bandaid, and for that I prefer 43. This year he has achieved a level of dominance that I previously thought impossible, and all the bickering between these fanbases is welcome, it means he has arrived. Come Olympics I will be Makar's biggest fan, and I'm sure all the Denver folks will love 43.

So if the guy who has been having the most dominant season on D keeps it up and isn’t overtaken by the next closest performer, he’ll win the Norris… because it was annointed by the Canadian media at game 10, and not because his play earned it?
