Quinn tilts the ices like no other Canucks dman in their history, IMO. I don't think people appreciate how much defense he plays before the puck even enters the Canucks' zone. Demko made reference to this when he pointed out that Hughes spent so much time in the other team's zone that he couldn't comment on his in-zone play.

There still exists this dinosaur thinking that crease-clearing board-bashers are better defensemen by default. It just isn't so.

It’s Foote and Gonchar that have worked with him along with a very good D partner that compliments his game perfectly. He seems to be taking his game to another level this year and I’d argue he’s been the best player in the league so far controlling a game at both ends.

Very impressive and for the first time in 30 years as a Canucks fan my favourite player is a Dman. Probably top 5 for most dynamic player in the game and a style that brings you out of your seat.

Well said. it's the first time in my life I've seen a Canucks defenseman have so much impact. I've been watching since the early 90s. I have always wanted that number 1 defenseman to make a difference as the Canucks have never had one even in the 3 cup runs. I just never expected the number 1 dman to be a small guy. He is truly amazing.

He's on fire to start the year. He has 18 points in 12 games, which is 123 points over a full season with 82 PPP and +102.

What’s so special about Quinn Hughes, he’s literally getting significantly better every single season right now.

What’s the ceiling?

He's tied with MacInnis, Potvinx2, and Orr on this chart now.
Only Orr, Carlson, and Coffey have reached 20 points faster.
