In the Canada game my prediction was (luckily) totally off, so I'll try again:

-Denmark's 1st line scores the first goal during the 1st period

So for the first time on the tourney that we would be down one or more goal it would be to Denmark. If that's what's they'll gonna do it's okay then.

Like someone said earlier, we're cautious because we are the overwhelming favorites; that's something we're not used to. The fans know and hopefully the players know that the game shouldn't be seen as another piece of cake, or else there could be a disaster. At least in the past Finns often tended to play up or down to their opponent's level; games against weaker teams are tight, games against the top countries are tight. It seems the new generation has learned away from this habit, which is awesome :)

It's because we ourselves have often enough been the underdog who pulled the upset and have been shamelessly usurping that as a strategy. Would be hateful if someone ripped that page from our playbook against us.

Rantanen first line center and Lajunen to fourth. Or Granny to first and Pulkkinen to second line.
Lajunen directly replacing Barkov for this game.

Also, apparently it's Pyörälä who will stunt Barkov on PP. (This might elicit a naughty word or two from folks here.)

Oh f.... !! Barkov is our most important forward and now we only have one pp unit. Thank god we won Canada and didn't face the swedes without Barky

No naughty words! Everyone plays! #kaikkipelaa

Well, lucky it's this game and not the next one. Or Sweden.

Barkov is the single most important piece in our team.

Laine with 2+1 or 1+2, time to step it up when Barkov is out. Gonna be closer than many think, but im very confident Finland will take then win home. 3-0 or 3-1

Oh Jalonen if those lineups are true, just when I was ready to say well done he does this.
No No No, ............ng Lajunen with Jokinen and Laine :help:
I guess Laine has to carry his line today, no pressure.

I'd like to see Denmark n the medal games but I'm sorry to say but not over us, going to be a tough game.

No need to mix up the whole team just because Barkov is missing. He should be fine to play on saturday I imagine

The PP is going to be interesting though

Barkov (flu) and Kukkonen (lower body) won't play tonight.

Kukkonen has been just about Finlands worst defender so that might even be a buff. Barkov is huge, though, but Finland should have centers in reserve.

Relax. It's one game, so not mixing things up excessively because of that actually makes sense. If Barkov was out of the tournament, then we might see more notable shuffling of the deck.

But win this game, and things will be back to normal.

Well... it's the do-or-die game, but given our opponent, I'm willing to call it a calculated risk.

Lajunen is Laine's center from Liiga, good choice. He is good defensively.

Ehlers and Laine will score 2 goals each. The game will finish tied at 2. One of Ehlers or Laine will score the winner in a shootout. Fans of the Winnipeg Jets will rejoice either way.

What ticks me off more was that KJ gave the open PP spot to Pyörälä. What must Rantanen do to get some love in that regard?

Rantanen makes no sense in Barkovs slot on PP. Barkov is no playmaker there.

Like you say this is a must win game.

And Barkov line has been our most important line offensively, and now they changed healthy scratch to cover for Barkov.
Laine-Granlund could have been magic.

Not exactly where Barkov plays of course, but with minor adjustments things would certainly look far more promising than with Pyörälä there.
