Danish 1st line was really good, guess they got tired, they seemed to be on the ice half of the game, seriously if you guys had 4 lines like that you would be amongst the favourites, luckily we have Koivu-line to shut them down.

Laine not getting to shoot as much as he did early in the tournament definitely is not just because our other guys have stopped feeding him. The defensive diamond trying to play him out is actually blatantly clear at times.

That's what I've thought also. You just wouldn't know it when reading some comments in theses threads where everything is Hietanen's and Jokinens' fault. It's as if the people think the opponents cover all the passing and shooting lines equally.

That may have been a hyperbole, but the point still stands. If the disrepancy is like that, you're going to have trouble late in the game if you're trying to catch up instead of protecting a lead.

Tightening up towards the end is one thing, doing so from the beginning of the game tells that you really don't have much business winning in the first place - it would essentially require the game of a lifetime to do so.

Eller| 7:01 | 6:18 | 7:55
Hansen| 4:51 | 6:59 | 7:31
Ehlers| 5:28 | 5:10 | 8:04

seems like tightening to me. those guys are in good condition anyway getting gassed was no problem at all for the danes

Hopefully one day we can actually get our strongest squad together.
Frans Nielsen
Jannik Hansen
Lars Eller
Nikolaj Ehlers
Oliver Bjørkstrand
Mikkel Bødker
Peter Regin
Nicklas Jensen
Nichlas Hardt
That's a pretty good top 9 right.

Frederik Storm
Patrick Bjørkstrand
Julian Jakobsen
Jesper Jensen
Morten Poulsen
Morten Madsen
These will likely have to battle for the fourth line.

I best note that it's not just about TOI, it's about shift frequency as well. Long shifts and long breaks between them is less demanding than a short shift with only a short break inbetween. And the latter was definitely the case with the Danish 1st line.

It wasn't so an easy game for Finland like the result may suggest. Denmark didn't play that bad.

I hope for Finland Barkov will be able to play in the semifinal Russia/Germany. Does anybody know something about his state of health? It would be bad luck for the finnish team if he can't play.

One thing boggles my mind. Why on earth are the Habs fans so eager to get rid of Eller? The guy is an awesome hockey player. Fantastic performance.

About Eller, apparently he told the media that he feels bad about the loss because Finland was the worst top hockey country they played against (or so he felt). I guess he missed the part where we are the only team that hasn't lost a game so far, we were missing our "nr 1 center" and still won them 5-1. Basicly saying that Czech was better when they lost to the danes than Finland was when they won the danes by 4 goals. That.. is an interesting take on things by an NHL player.

Anyways, good game and I hope to see Denmark continue evolving in hockey, and hopefully we'll see you in medal games soon enough!

He is kinda right probably on what he felt. I mean seriously, this game didin't feel like elimination match. More or less, we were in bit on cruise mode. Even komarov didin't have full throttle on hitting ect (didint hit much I mean). Canada game was much more intense from us.

Hopefully Buffalo Sabres isn't playoff team in NHL next season.
It's time to kick that ****ing Hietanen out of Finland's national team Ristolainen shoots harder than him.
Thank god we won it's good. But we need Barkov back against Russia without him we are really screwed in saturday.

So a march meaning a boggy place and it is related to "border areas" as it is very hard to move through, but a "Mark" in Frankish is just a border area whether it is marshy, forested or mountains.
The Franks has a Frisian Mark (marshy) and a Spanish Mark (mountains) beside the Mark to the Danes (forested and marshy in the western part).

I know that's kind of the West/Central European usage of the word 'mark', and that Margrave/Marquis was essentially a Count who had his county at the borders of the realm and who by that token was given or just went to assume some elevated power in comparison to the regular counts by the grace of having the opportunity by being further away from the king and the court.

I was just thinking if it in this case might have been closer to what I assume was the Norse understanding of the word. They have actually suggested that the fact that there was a "Finland" in the modern southern Finland and a "Finnmark" in today's northers Norway would have its roots in the Norse using word "Finns" to refer both the ancestors of modern-day Finns and the Sami interchangeably and that the "Finns" in Finland were farming Finns and the "Finns" in Finnmark were hunting/fishing Finns. The Sami up north call today the southern Finns "lantalaiset", which in Finnish sound as derogatory "dung folks" but actually might refer to them being people living on "land".

But in this case it does sound the Franks are the better answer.

Anyway, fine sport this "ice-hockey". :)

There's a pretty sizable Habs fan contingent that thinks there is a very solid hockey player in Eller that his coach has no idea how to use effectively.

For the most part IMO he's a masterful puck carrying forward that gets forced to play dump and chase hockey with unskilled players as linemates.
