I don't know at this point if we will make it past Sweden.
Oh c'mon now. I mean no disrespect for the Swedes, but objectively the odds are 95/5 in your favor. Or are you fearful of jinxing it? I just hope Canada's goaltending won't be as horrendous as it was vs Finland.

We have been completely humbled and humiliated. Our backs are against the wall on foreign soil.

I just hope putting on the Team Canada jersey means something and every player gives everything he's got. If they play the Canadian way and give everything they got, I'll be happy either way.

Look, I'm betting EU80 on Canada right now. Should they lose tonight, at least there'll be one sad Russian across the pond to share your pain. Maybe that'll cheer you up a bit:naughty:

Cam Talbot=Canada loss

I'm amazed that Talbot is getting the start after having been directly responsible for 3 of the 4 goals against Finland and having stopped all of 15 of their 19 shots. The guy was a tier-2 goalie for much of his career, undrafted and unloved before getting in a couple of seasons as Lundquist's backup. And in his first season as a starter at 28, he was backup to Nilsson for an extended stretch after playing poorly. He was untested in elite competition--until the Finns came along and rattled his cage the other night.

Pickard is a prime long-term prospect who was a high pick (for a goalie, 49th) and sports a .927 NHL save percentage in his two seasons as a backup. In his last start, he made several big stops against France, a team that was badly outplayed but came up with saves on several Grade A scoring opportunities courtesy of careless Canadian miscues at the opposing blue line.

Sweden has underperformed in the tournament thus far but have a number of players who could legitimately win the game--e.g. Nyquist and Backlund, plus Larsson on defence, and our goaltending is inferior. In order to win, the forwards are going to have to come back and stay within spitting distance of our inexperienced defence in all three zones and keep passes short on the rush. If the forwards don't support our defence, we can certainly be be had with our goaltending. And if the goalie is Talbot, we will be. Our guys won't play with any confidence in front of him after that last start.

Well this game is already screwed the idiot is gonna stick to pairing Ekholm with Franssuck. That mean the only way we will even have a remote chance in this game is if Franssuck gets injured on the first shift

Sweden need to play better than before to have a chance. Not much speaks for that but you never know, maybe they all if a sudden get the teamplay in place.

I'm just hoping for a good and exciting game. That Tre Kronor can hold their heads up high after this one.

Yeah hopfully if Sweden lose its not because of mistakes which we have seen plenty of so far,but great play from Canada.

Just hope there isn't a russian kid screaming close to the play-by-play announcers this time.

Like the other day Sweden against Switzerland. Some kid screamed something like "Shaibu", "Scheibu" (spelling?) the whole game.

Hmmm...Duchene can certainly play center...Ditto Brassard...the others not so much...and McD as the 13th forward?

This is the worst Swedish team I've seen in decades. Not only by the names on paper, but the product on the ice as well. I expect a 5-1, 4-0 win by Canada or something of the like. No team except Canada can handle 30 declines of the best players and when the coach can't see which players are awful, you have a serious problem.

The Canadian fans predicting a Canadian loss or a 50-50 game: you haven't watched a single game by the Swedes, eh? Granted I haven't watched Canada either, but no Canadian team can be as bad as this Swedish team.

Yes, I do know Canada lost 0-4 to Finland the other day... so I guess it's the battle of who suck the least?

Even if Canada is the better team overall...and they are...Talbot gave up ( if memory serves ) 4 goals on 13 shots vs Suomi. 3 of those goals had no business going in ( 3rd goal certainly wasn't his fault ).

With that kind of goal tending, we couldn't even beat...oh I dunno, just pick any lowly team at random that has no chance vs the Big 6 on a Big Stage...

we couldn't even beat...

BELARUS ;)

hilarious....
anything shady, it's always Team Canada's fault.

Took Swede poster as tongue in cheek...although I can empathize

Swede media / coloUr commentators ( remember Forsberg 2009 WJ Gold Game?:shakehead ) are totally bias/ethnocentric and really have a hate-on for all things Canadian. Were our commentators remotely close to that, only in reverse...there'd be HELL TO PAY...from their fellow Canucks!?

Hmmm should have added a qualifier...

Again , if memory serves, Talbot let in 4 goals on the FIRST 13 shots...3 of which had no business going in (unless ur team mounts a furious comeback ) what u do after that tends to have little to no bearing...since the damage is done...

@drunkperrinfan...Don't get me wrong. I wasn't meaning to suggest that Canada was the better team vs Suomi. Suomi was definitely better in all aspects of the game...I was merely suggesting that this year's version of Team Canada is better overall ( with a notable exception, based on recent evidence, in goal ) ....THAN SWEDEN

I would prefer if the pair would look like this

29 Erik Gustafsson "A" - 5 Adam Larsson
56 Erik Gustafsson - 4 Mattis Ekholm
6 Oscar Fantenberg - Nygren

And play the the 2 first pair a lot. Do not get why Fransson is on the 2th pair.

I haven't been paying attention to this tourney this year... was Anton Rodin ever an option for Sweden or is he still re-habing his injury? Not invited or turned down invitation?

Why should Nygren play over Anton Lindholm? Nygren has been bad, Lindholm has been good.
