OK but you have to look at the 2 rosters playing this game. Not history of the 2 countries.

This was not a great Finnish team. There may not be a single 2023 1st rounder playing on that team. Dvorsky's presence alone makes Slovakia dangerous.

Crazy how that Godla kid from the WJC those years ago never even made it in a top Euro league, just goes to show how a goalie can get hot for a short tournament
 
Lol, they actually played Eemil Vinni.

Serves them right after that decision. Who's watched Eemil Vinni this season and still thinks he deserves to play international games?

p.s.: I do like the Finnish team so any result would have been ok, but I do root for my former countrymen. Even though a lot of Slovaks seems to be pleased when we Czechs lose. I guess a bit like Scots and Englishmen (I lived in England for a looong time..).

Matt Wood is gonna score 1,000 goals against the Swiss Cheese defense. By the end of the USNDTP's game they weren't even trying.

I always root for the Czechs vs other countries. Unless it's like Czech republic vs Japan in hockey, then I root for the upset.

Normally you'd say something like the underdog, facing mighty Canada, may play inspired in their home country... but Switzerland has shown zero heart in their games thus far so hard to believe they'll just turn it on. Look like kids that were told to be there and that are ready for the off-season and to play video games rather than having lots of pride in playing for their country.

And a couple of looks at this Finland team this tournament and you just knew this group couldn't.

You really do hate Finland and all Finns don't you? Somehow you're always one of the users bashing and hating them like it's your job. Will never understand people who act like this type of hate is normal or acceptable at all

Same here the other way round. Unless it is against us, I have always been a loyal cheerleader for Slovakia. Ever since we split up. (Yes, I am that old, almost 50!😀)

I will say this, if Finnish fans can give it they should be able to take it.

Fair is fair.

It is so f***ing easy to blame the goalie.
But guess what HE'S GUILTY and why's that so i tell you.

The goalie ( Vinni ) hasn't responsibility on that how team plays together.
That job belongs to coaching and when you have clueless bozo coach who looks more Tomi Lämsä reincarnation than real hockey coach what you can expect? yeah not much.

This U18 team Finnish individuals lacked
so much world-class elite NHL level talent as ever possible.
We had zero skill, zero talent, zero defense, zero offense, zero heart
and grit and zero toughness into own defensive zone and own net.

Our powerplay sucked asses so badly even Jukka Jalonen would've ashamed eyes off on his head.
Also our penalty killing was more peewee level than U18 WJC level.

Our jääkiekkoliito has gone back to nuori suomi coaching and player development model.
This was probably worst U18 WJC since 2014 when we lost U18 WJC quarterfinal vs Sweden 0-10.

So do you wanna still blame Vinni?
He's good and young promising goalie but he's not ready yet.
Next time if you know better you can dress your hockey gear
and go on the ice and show our U18 national team how to play.
 
what a game !! SLOVAKIA play with heart ! absolutly heroic effort. Dvorský and Urban played amazing, but also player like Cedzo Pekarcik Eperjesi or Strbak was great.
