Larkin has looked better than Eichel.

That's ok though. McDavid hasn't been the best guy on the ice for most of his games.

Russians are playing a very pro-like game. Short changes, hard forecheck, conservative short passes and minimizing turnovers. It is really negating the US on the rush.

Too conservative. They have discipline, but their offensive strategy is poor.

Yeah okay, big guy.

No one loves U.S. hockey more than 2525. Hell, he loves it more than some Americans.

The U.S. has been lousy. Don't blame us. With all the penalties, thank God you are still in it.

As for me...

On NYE there was no time where I thought Canada would lose. We match up wonderfully against the U.S. Same style of play with better players.

The Russians are a box of chocolates.

Question for team USA followers - why didn't Cole Cassels make the team? He's got 40 points in 24 GP in the CHL and he is an older player as well. I've seen him play a few times and to me he seems like he would be a lot more effective than a handful of guys on this US squad.

"Remeber the IIHF honours CHL suspensions & by my calculation Cole Cassels' last game served would be on Dec. 30. "

Perhaps thats why, then.

I think you've misinterpreted what I meant by game management. It is to ensure a good flow of play and control rather than what we're seeing now.

Refs job is to call penalties, not to make sure it's fun to watch.
The players dictate what happens, if they decide to break the rules there'll be lots of penalties and not very "good flow" will ensue.

Refs should never interfere or manage the game in any shape or form, the games flow is only a consequence of what the players do.

A lot of it has to do with him being in the CHL. There is strong bias toward NTDP players.

If it were up to Canadians... Hockey would only exist inside the boundaries of Canada and Canada would play Canada in a Canadian arena filled with only Canadians built by Canadians paid for by money from ticket sales from previous games consisting of said Canada vs Canada matchups. :sarcasm:

I'm completely jealous TBH. I wish any tournament was as big in the US.

Russia is doing a really good job of not making risky plays, they always have a forward high just in case of a turnover they always have 3 guys back negating any type of odd man rush. In the D-zone they're kind of playing zone coverage allowing shots from the point but nothing down low. U.S is really having a hard time dealing with it, not doing anything on the rush at all.
