Lotta folks gonna eat crow re Eichel

He was good all tourney, just not outstanding

as a fan of the Russian team, I definitely don't think the U.S. were a joke, they played very well, definitely could've tied the game up.

We were very lucky this game was even 3-2. If Russia had a powerplay it would have been over in the 1st period.

We got beat by a team that IMHO, no offense, isn't that good.

I didn't see that at all. In fact, the opposite. But maybe we value different things. I thought Larkin had some glorious chances. Eichel flashed much more skill, but it was almost counterproductive. He dipsy doodled when he should have done something simple.

Larkin was invisible.

How bout the Russian coach walking along the top of the boards. Looked like the Undertaker lol. Should be careful that would be a bad spill if he lost his balance.

They had 16 more shots than Russia, and it looked like they were playing a man up when they weren't on the PK because they dominated Russia that much. I guess you can say that the USA should have done better, but how did they not deserve to advance? Did the team that got outplayed badly deserve to advance?

At the end of the day the only statistic that counts is the goals scored.

Is a loss to Canada really so devastating the US team cant focus anymore in a tournament? The Olympic embarrassment against Finland, last two World Juniors. And why do a lot of these teams that do so well in the under 18 17 ranks choke so often in the under 20?

When taken from a fifteen line comment, out of context this looks bad.

You have a different viewpoint and that is fine. I think you should act like you have been there before. Celebrate a big win, but act respectful to the other team and don't jump around in their faces over a quarter final victory. I would say the same if my team did it.

That said, they are kids, and exuberance usually trumps sportsmanship.

It looked to me like the Russians only started over the top celebrating after the US were giving some late shots after the game was over

whoever was running that USA PP needs to be fired.

The entire coaching staff. Just piss poor work.

Eichel was trying to do to many things himself BECAUSE NONE OF HIS LINEMATES WERE DOING JACK **** AND IT WAS HIS ONLY OPTION.

Throughout the whole tournament? No way. There were way to many people open/options for the puck carrier that were never leveraged.

Hard to do more than jack **** when some clown is hogging the puck.

This plus poor coaching is why the US lost.

Only caught the last 2 periods of this game. Hard to comprehend how Russia had a 2-goal lead over the US in the first place based on what I saw in the play of each team in the periods that I watched.

Bummed the U.S. is not continuing but this group did not seem to mesh well for whatever reason and did not have enough good defensemen to balance things out, I thought.

Better luck next year and good luck to the Russians next round.

I agree. Not being a sore loser at all like some of the American players were, but the USA was the better team in this game. Russia got a few good bounces, great goaltending and took advantage of a very undisciplined USA team with a bad coach.

The Russians usually celebrate big and quite often taunt too. It's a big cultural difference and I wish people would just accept it.

Funny enough in the 80's we made fun of them for not showing any emotion.
