US had a pretty sizeable edge 5 on 5 , & were all over them in 3rd...BUT...u can't take SO MANY Undisciplined/ Unnecessary penalties. You are responsible for ur stick...Not exactly Rocket Science

17 and 18 year old players won't lead your team to victory America. Look at Canada, McDavid isn't leading them it's the 19 year olds, Domi, Duclair and Reinhart. Hanifin, Matthews, Eichel, Werenski aren't going to lead you to the promise land.

Matthews as the #1C next year? I don't know if that's going to cut it either.

Is it just me, or do these American squads always seem out of place when considered favorites? Always seem better when they are slightly out of the crosshairs.
You're right. The 2013 team wasn't as star studded and relied more on team effort, goaltending, and surprise secondary scoring. Galchenyuk didn't have to be a one man army like Eichel tried to be.

Thoroughly undisciplined game, which they still could have won, and classless, sore loser act at the end. What a disappointing tournament.

Definitely need Osiecki back next year.

Says the country that produced Sidney Crosby

Come on, Crosbys not the whiner some think he is.

As for what happened at the end. Canadian teams have lost too under the similar circumstances and been poor sports about it. Sadly many Canadians forget that.

The US deserved to win this game, they outplayed the Russians big time IMO but a couple questionable calls and non calls on the Russians didn't help (obviously)

The US kids have nothing to be ashamed about. They played with a lot of heart and desire. The USNTDP is an amazing program and as a Canadian I love US hockey.

I don't like people on here piling on Eichel or any other kid out there. He did not have his best game, but he's a kid. So are the Russians. They probably celebrate too much and the Americans got a little too frustrated at the end. But they are young men, and that is what young men do.

I did not see this outcome happening. I thought the US would be a lot more efficient on the PP, but when its penalty after penalty, you never get the flow. Some of the calls were soft, but you can't give the refs the chance by playing on the edge too much. Canada has done the same many times, so I know how it feels.

.
Yeah I'm sure Russia celebrating like they won gold had nothing to do with it.

Who gives a crap about the celebration? DeAngelo should man up and take the loss. Well deserved win for the Russian's. they can celebrate how they want since almost everyone picked the Americans to win.

I wouldn't know if I sound like Craig Button, so if I do, somebody save me.

8 penalties and you expect to win? good luck with that. Deserved L no matter how dominating 5v5 was.

The U.S. had some strange set ups for their PPs. That's more on the coaching staff than the players, I'd say.

The US offense looked good in the 3rd period, they may have problems with the 'finishing shot', though they are very good at setting up the puck. Russia played well in the 1st two periods, but I didn't like their 3rd. Respect to the US, Russians still need to work harder, but overall definitely a better effort than their game against the Czechs.
