Lots of diving on both sides, but the Finns did kind of take it to another level. Sad to see that display on home ice - pretty embarrassing. All that said, Canada certainly did not deserve to win.

Here's to seeing the Finns crushed by whoever their next opponent is. Really don't want to see bad acting rewarded.

Says a lot about the quality of this team when you only have two forwards to depend on

Barzal,Gauthier and Konecny showed as much with a quarter of the opportunity. That's why Canada was in this sh**** situation to begin with. It was the Strome and Marner show and then everyone else.

Barzal showed as much flash as Marner without the turnovers and yet never played.

Poor roster that was poorly coached. Canada just wasn't a good team this year.

Funny the hate Canada gets though. A lot of people definitely salty about the countries success in international hockey over the years.

Maybe next year we will send our women's team to give em a what for.

"So, Coach, what did you learn in the tournament?"

"Uh, well, uh... you need a team to win"

That about sums up Lowry's ability to drill into a situation.

Not to single out your post, but to all those who would either pour all blame or completely absolve Marner, he contributed significantly to Canada coming back, but that selfish, undisciplined penalty when Canada was about to go on the PP was a huge factor to them not having a great chance to tie the game again.

Again, you're talking about hindsight. Sure the penalty cost Canada a pp but there would have been no guarantee the goal would have been scored. I don't like how some posters are singling out Marner as the reason why we lost the game, while it was the very opposite. The reason why we lost is poor defense, goaltending and coaching, especially coaching.

Finns, I love the top end talent of your team, Pulju and Laine will result in a very solid draft year for the Finns. All respect to your team.

Canada needs new goaltending prodigies, the last hyped prospect was Fucale. I mean we should have a pipeline damnit, Quebec do your job! You always produce our best goalies lol.

Not Juolevi even as an honorable mention?

I'm hoping Juolevi will be there for grabs for the Panthers. And the Ducks could have use for Laine.

funny thing, it was a match penalty, so it did not put Canada down a man.Sure we lost a PP, but that still is not even close to the damage Hicketts and Virtanen did. And if Canada relied that much on Marner to bail them out a 3rd time, well then this team did not deserve to medal anyways

On December 13, 2015, the Vancouver Canucks announced that they would be loaning Virtanen to Team Canada for the World Junior Championship Tournament U20. Which cost Canada the tournament.
From Wiki lol

Maybe it would be safer for him to just stay in Finland for a while. He has the citizenship if I remember correctly...

Why should we adapt and not just start our own tournament with legit reffing?

I never understand this thinking from international apologists like Ferraro.

If the ref is crap then it should be changed especially when the IIHF would be nothing without Canada and we would be just fine if we started a new, non-corrupt organization.

Today the Perlini, 3 Virtanen calls and the Marner calls were all horsecrap calls. The Hicketts call was a joke because there is no way they should be playing in a joke of rink with that glass but not the refs fault.

The Finns won pretty much 100% to PP goals scored on those calls. The Finns didn't make good plays, didn't force Canada into mistakes didn't play better in any way.

Those calls changed the game and the outcome of the game and saying "they should adapt to the crappy, biased reffing" seems moronic to me. There shouldn't be crappy and biased reffing to start with if this is supposed to be a world Class organization.

Dont listen to this guy..

Not going to be negative in a loss, so hats off to Marner for really stepping up and loved the heart on the sleeve shown by Strome.

Can't win them all.

Lowry created a "me" attitude in a "we" tournament.

Double shifted favorites.
Had guys playing 2-3 minute shifts.
Did not reward players playing well.
Never benched guys who were un-disciplined.
Never benched guys playing bad.

When Canada rolled 4 lines and 3 pairings, we looked fast and good. As soon as he double shifted his favorites or let them gave 2 minute shifts, they looked awful. And today, his favorites looked good at times, and lost us the game at other times.

You nailed it. It's not Virtanen's fault he was rewarded for his lack of IQ and discipline. It's not Blackwood's fault he was forced to play a game where he was fighting the puck from the very first goal he let in. It's not Hicketts' fault he was being used in way over his head. It's not Hickey, McKeown, Dermott, Barzal, Stephens, Crouse etc's faults they were afterthoughts in the rotation.

How many times to we have to be screwed by horse crap officiating at a IIHF event before Canada just says ef them and leaves?

What is the IIHF going to do hold their tournaments in front of 200 people with $500 worth of sponsorship money.

Finland did nothing to win this game but wait on the BS officiating they have relied on all tournament long and of course the crappy IIHF refs obliged.

This Canadian team had issues for sure but the garbage calls were the reason they lost today not their play and certainly not the play of a awful Finnish team.
:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

Nope, you're entire opinion is wrong because this tournament has been the same since the 1970s. IIHF makes weak calls, but they have consistently made weak calls since the 1970s. It is Canada's fault every year for going in as (MOD), and get into discipline trouble every year. It isn't just Canada, USA also get into penatly trouble every other year as well. But not one Canadian cannot blame this game on the refs since they have NEVER ever changed in the way they call penalties. Team Canada should know better.

What a game! Canada is getting deeper and deeper into the trend of the selfish Russian, it seems to be easier and easier to knock them off their game and get Team Canada to take stupid penalties..

I was going to say we got out-Europeaned. Like watching an all-star game. Everyone wanting to put on a talent show but some players not willing to pay the price to play the typical Canadian Game. Not a fan of the coaching either.

Yeah, I think I recognise this phenomenon - they just stand there confused as Canada scores 6 own goals... It's not like we didn't make many horrible mistakes in the game too.
You talk as though Canadians are the only fans who criticize their own team when we lose. Like you never look back at your own team and look at where your team can improve? Canadians can never do right with you guys.

Again, this tournament won't make or break a prospect. The sample size is just too small.

Regarding the tournament, coaching was horrendous. A lot of lines didn't work and Lowry just stuck with them anyway. Players like Konecny and Barzal were extremely underutilized, also.

Anyway, congratulations to Finland. Good luck guys. :)

I'll give you sample size. 5+10 in five games, 3 against yours
