I feel bad for Point he was clearly injured.

Marner turned it up on the pqowerplay but was a no show 5 on 5 all tournament long but great PP specialist. Very costly penalty w. Less than 3 min left.

Virt was mentally not prepared for this tournament. Great physical tool set tho.

The refs were getting suckered in easily in this one.

I think Strome sold his a little bit hoping for a major.

But when there's no time left in the game, and you're losing, you keep your ****ing hands to yourself.

That's the bottom line.

You'd think Virtanen would have offered an object lesson in this very game.

Yea, Strome was trying to get that 5 + game there.

wait a second.....ITS STROMES FAULT!

If he was a better actor, Laine is out for the game and we probably score on the PP.

DAMN YOU STROME!

....

...all kidding aside, lack of even decent goaltending and a poor performance from a returnees is the reason for our poor showing.

Going after Virtanen, Hicketts or even Marner in the third is missing the reason why we wernt in a better position in the first place.

How many times to we have to be screwed by horse crap officiating at a IIHF event before Canada just says ef them and leaves?

What is the IIHF going to do hold their tournaments in front of 200 people with $500 worth of sponsorship money.

Finland did nothing to win this game but wait on the BS officiating they have relied on all tournament long and of course the crappy IIHF refs obliged.

This Canadian team had issues for sure but the garbage calls were the reason they lost today not their play and certainly not the play of a awful Finnish team.

You say what? Refs tried really hard to pull Canada back to game at the third, and indeed succeeded with two bs calls which were extremely weak

Sad that we don't get to see Marner again other than the OHL. He was good this game. The penalty was a soft call, the finnish players was clearly instigating

I just don't understand how you can take those sorts of penalties over and over, in key situations. We have an "NHL level talent" with the self-control and decision making ability of a toddler.

One terrible penalty? Sure. It's a team of teenagers playing in an international tournament with unfamiliar rules and reffing. Understandable. Two penalties? OK, it happens. But, you have to have some sort of awareness of what you're doing to your team at that point, right?

... Right?

What makes a man start fires?

Shoutout to Roland McKeown, in a game where offense was high end - this kid was a rock. Carolina has a scary D core.

Canadians never got the goaltending they needed, Blackwood should have been pulled once Finland made it 4-3. He looked shaky throughout the last two periods. Even on his saves he was looking around for the puck.

Won't excuse Virtanen, shouldn't have taken the penalty while on the PP and while I disagreed with the refs calling the first penalty on him, it was a clear slash and Virtanen made a poor decision to do it.

Marner shouldn't have put his hands anywhere near the Finnish forward's face. You're down by 1, you're going to go on the powerplay, you don't give the referee the opportunity to even it up.

The story of the Canadian team this year has been undisciplined plays at inopportune moments. That's more on the coaching not realizing that a change was needed in the strategy. Others may blame Virtanen, Marner, Hicketts or Blackwood for the loss, but I think the blame should lay squarely on the coaching team. I think this is the last time you see Lowry as the coach for Canada.

Lowry created a "me" attitude in a "we" tournament.

Double shifted favorites.
Had guys playing 2-3 minute shifts.
Did not reward players playing well.
Never benched guys who were un-disciplined.
Never benched guys playing bad.

When Canada rolled 4 lines and 3 pairings, we looked fast and good. As soon as he double shifted his favorites or let them gave 2 minute shifts, they looked awful. And today, his favorites looked good at times, and lost us the game at other times.

You kidding me after every goal or PP it was your boy and Point. They did absolutely nothing in the first two periods to warrant it either. They were the worst line out there the first two periods

Marner lead the team in scoring...

What a game! Canada is getting deeper and deeper into the trend of the selfish Russian, it seems to be easier and easier to knock them off their game and get Team Canada to take stupid penalties..

good game very exciting other than blackwood and virtanen canada played very well.
Im rooting for the fins ton win it they're so fun to watch

GG Finland, better team won.

LOL Virtanen! Worst player I've ever seen dawn that jersey, just awful.

Renney looked mad at the end there hehe.

Was a good game. All the stuff you expect from a bunch of young kids playing. Dumb penalties, bad defence, and sweet looking goals.

On December 13, 2015, the Vancouver Canucks announced that they would be loaning Virtanen to Team Canada for the World Junior Championship Tournament U20. Which cost Canada the tournament.
From Wiki lol

I think Strome sold his a little bit hoping for a major.

A little bit? He left to locker room and returned on the same power play. That's considered one of the most classless moves you can make in European hockey where injury results in a major.

Clutch? For who? He took the dumbest penalty of the tournament at exactly the worst time. Embarrassing

You mean the penalty where he was punched twice and then the Finn literally sold the retaliation punch? Or do you mean how Virtanen literally took two penalties in the span of ten seconds that negated our PP and then put the Finns on another PP? He was the only reason this team was in the game towards the end. Get over it.

If year after year the officiating is crap (disagree), the players should know that it will be the same this year too. THEY should smart-up and ADAPT. Winning teams are able to adapt, stupid teams lose. Blaming on the officiating is useless.

Why should we adapt and not just start our own tournament with legit reffing?

I never understand this thinking from international apologists like Ferraro.

If the ref is crap then it should be changed especially when the IIHF would be nothing without Canada and we would be just fine if we started a new, non-corrupt organization.

Today the Perlini, 3 Virtanen calls and the Marner calls were all horsecrap calls. The Hicketts call was a joke because there is no way they should be playing in a joke of rink with that glass but not the refs fault.

The Finns won pretty much 100% to PP goals scored on those calls. The Finns didn't make good plays, didn't force Canada into mistakes didn't play better in any way.

Those calls changed the game and the outcome of the game and saying "they should adapt to the crappy, biased reffing" seems moronic to me. There shouldn't be crappy and biased reffing to start with if this is supposed to be a world Class organization.

Again, this tournament won't make or break a prospect. The sample size is just too small.

Regarding the tournament, coaching was horrendous. A lot of lines didn't work and Lowry just stuck with them anyway. Players like Konecny and Barzal were extremely underutilized, also.

Anyway, congratulations to Finland. Good luck guys. :)
