Oh well. It was a really fun game to watch and the Finns deserved to win.:)

Hopefully Virtanen can bring this momentum to the Canucks and we can end up drafting one of these Finns who smoked us.

No worries boys, we could've had McDavid, Bennett, Reinhart, Ekblad on this team.

When we don't medal at the Olympics, THAT'S when we panic.

GO CANADA GO GOLD MEDALS OLYMPICS BABY WOOOOOO!

BACK2BACK

Everybody but Reinhart. he is a 1995 birth year. but you forgot Fabbri in St. Louis and McCann in Vancouver. and when Van released Virtanen I said at the time I'd prefer McCann.

Great game, whatever Eberle does for his career he will be remembered for this WJC in 09,10 by Canadians.

From now on, whatever Virtanen does for the rest of his career nothing will ever negate that he cost us a game and tournament because of his Timbit like IQ.

Oh well. We weren't good enough to win anyway. I liked how we played for the most part, lots of good performances. Hopefully Jake learns the hard lesson of being careful with his stick in the future.

lets not forget Hicketts' bonehead move as well. TIME AND SPACE AND YOU PUT IT OUT OF PLAY.

Had he just cleared it down the ice we may have still been in the game

It was a routine scrum where he was given some cross checks first. It only got called because the Finish player sold it well. Wouldn't be a penalty in North America, especially not at that point in the game.
Why would you even bother though? Just ****ing skate away. Be disciplined.

Anyway, not like this team was winning Gold. That was very apparent.

Win or lose I always hope for an entertaining game, and that's exactly what we got. One that went right down to the wire.

The Finnish fans must be very proud of their team, they played really well and definitely overcame some early game adversity. I really do hope they go far this tournament.

This Canada team was full of selfish punks. Not surprised they finish 6th in that tournament. Watched all games... no soul, no goalie. Cya next year in Montreal.

The retaliation gets called when the original infraction wasn't?

What a strange and extremely rare event.

So because a ridiculous thing happens frequently in hockey, does that really make it any less ridiculous?

I've noticed you also conveniently left out the sniper shot recoil from the player on Finland's side.

And finally, Marner is 18. He wouldn't be the first person to retaliate after getting pushed in the face twice.

B.S. We would have had a power play if not for his stupid selfish penalty. There was no need for Marner to throw that punch, it was exactly what the Finnish player wanted and in international hockey they're going to call that penalty against Canada every time.

and if canadas goalie could make a save without a screen its still 5-5. all starts in goal imo

I like how people freaking out at Lowry when he really pulled the maximum out of this Canada team. Face it, you weren't at par with the other 3 big dogs this tournament.

Lowry played his cards alright tonight, the forchek and PP for Canada were lethal... those are signs of good coaching. Not his fault that Virtanen felt a bit patriotic (the wrong patria btw). Canada apart from Marner did not have any game breakers this year. Finland had quite a handful of studs.

No Lowry was terrible. He should have pulled Blackwood after 3 goals. No excuse for that.

Marner, as good as he was, was just as dumb in the last few minutes.

Yeah Marner took a bad penalty, but it cost us less because he only neglected a PP and he was really good in this game. Virtanen cost us a 5-3 and put us down for 1.5mins, he has freaking no brain, you're young mens, emotions will get in there (Marner) but Virtanen penalties were just absolutely dumb plays.

Canadian here, thoroughly impressed with the Finns. Wow, haven't seen a finnish team like that in years. Great game overall. For Canada, penalties and no big saves when we needed it. For the Finns, big guns stepped up when they needed it (Puujarvi, Aho, Laine all were huge tonight)

Marner will be a stud (and I am a Habs fan). As for Virtanen, still a good prospect but completely lost his head today. He should use this as a huge learning experience. One of the worst world junior performances by a player that I have ever seen

B.S. We would have had a power play if not for his stupid selfish penalty. There was no need for Marner to throw that punch, it was exactly what the Finnish player wanted and in international hockey they're going to call that penalty against Canada every time.
At the end of the day Marner was the only reason why Canada was even close to winning this game

Leafs have a star in this kid. You unfortunately bandwagoned the wrong team :(

The players and staff gave up their Christmas holidays to represent us. Whatever the outcome, thanks for that. Maybe next year will be better. My prediction was that we would finish anywhere from first to ninth, so I win! Not a great team, but next year has great promise.

Leijonat!!!! Woo, what a game!!!

Sweden vs. Finland is the gold medal game for me!

Whatever happens on the ice, the opponent can never win. They are just there when Canada loses.

Great documentary on Virt after the game.

Would love to have that type of player in a 7 game series. JR game is different from NHL and especially NHL playoffs

Best game Canada played all tournament, let down by lack of discipline and goaltending. Finland has a good team, could be very good next year if none of their draft-eligible players are in the NHL.
