Looks like this might be one of the most boring offseasons in recent memory. None of the teams want to make big moves with the knowledge cap is going to increase next year.

The moves were Monahan and - Newhook once Cheveldayoff wanted to take Hughes to the woodshed.
They need to move bodies tomorrow - maybe Dvorak, maybe Hoffman, maybe Edmundson.
Is there a deal for anderson? at this point, that might be ill-advised with the glut of small wingers on the team.
Can they facilitate a trade with cap?
Those three be moved at deadline. I see us preparing for '24 draft this coming season

It doesn't seem like it should be super boring.

We have dead-weight that needs to be jettisoned to make TOI for superior prospects, we have a ton of warm bodies (too many) at all levels, we have too many dead-end prospects, we have a ton of cap space and the league's good teams are in demand for cap space. I feel like we ought to be on the verge of an aggressive and electric summer - streamlining the roster, building it in MSL's image, etc.

I'm not sure what's the holdup

The Habs rushed Slafkovsky to the NHL and had him battered and bruised, traded top60 picks for Newhook, and basically said they didn't pick Michkov because of the three year wait -- so how does that square with a boing and tepid offseason?

My Bergevin particle detector is starting to beep.

I still want us to bring Belzile back. He was perfect as a fourth liner.

I don't think we'll make a big splash anyway. Sign our RFAs, sign Belzile and I'm good with it.

Apparently, Belzile and Richard are going the way of Laurent Dauphin and want guaranteed NHL roster spots and one-way contracts. That didn't exactly work out for Dauphin. He signed in Arizona expecting to play in NHL, and spent 20 games there. He would probably have gotten more NHL games with us just due to all our injuries.

Richard wants a better opportunity to play in NHL, so he's gone. Not really surprised. He actually gave that interview saying he didn't feel he was given a chance to show what he could do (stuck on 4th line).

Another team may think Belzile can be a 4th line center full-time. Apparently, both are drawing interest from other organizations.

It doesn't sound like either will be back.

Anyways we have too many forwards already. Those guys are ahlers and were just playing due to injuries.

Poehling is better than KK though. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to see him play for HIFK this season, fingers crossed!
Poehling is garbage. He’s always been garbage, but didn’t stop him from winning HFBoards Habs top prospect lol. Him and Louis Leblanc, two of the most overblown, shittiest prospects, I’ve ever seen hyped.

Don't expect anything guys

Probably sign 1 or 2 of our players who are RFA

and perhaps we trade 1 or 2 Edmundson/Hoffman/Armia

Ufas are mostly all terrible
and we don't like talent so don't expect any trades to make us better
Not sure about that.

Last Spring, we traded for Barron, a recent first round pick.

Last summer, we took a home run swing on Hutson.

We traded for talented players Dach, Matheson and Newhook (all drafted in first round).

We took a chance on Gurianov (not all talented players work out).

We are currently giving Sean Monahan a second year, former 6OA with talent.

We bet on Cole Caufield long-term.

We've invested time, money and effort in moulding Logan Mailloux due to the talent he has.

We've refused offers for Kaiden Guhle.

Just because the Habs did not draft some people's favourite Matvei Michkov does not mean whatsoever that they don't like talent.

If Killorn wants to play in Montreal vs stay in the US, I see him signed to a 3-4yr deal @ ~5M cap hit.

Checks several boxes both in need and fit, enough so to offset risk of his productivity dropping without the Bolts talent around him + being in his mid 30's for this contract.
Not a bad player, with some compete to his game and has been a proven contributor on a winning team.

Still quite productive offensively while sporting the second best +/- on the Lightning last year. However, the huge fact is that he is turning 34 by the time the season starts. If Alex wants to play closer to home, he will need to accept the term being short. I don't mind a fair cap hit though, as long as it is for a 1-2 year term.

I'd much rather ice a Killorn than guys like Hoffman or Dadonov, who are the same age.

Every winning team needs SOME vets. If Alex Killorn wants to finish his career here, at diminishing salary in proportion to production drops, I would not rule it out.

Right now for the Habs it's all about trying to get rid of some bodies.
Too much players on this team already, can't even think about adding anyone.
Yes Sir this was identified from Day 1 as one of the biggest challenges early on. Hopefully we will be in good shape after this season with only Gallagher hanging over our heads. If they can make that go away what a bonus.

Killhorn isn’t any good, anymore. I wouldn’t give him anything. We always want to pick up elite team’s cast aways and then wonder why we will never be elite.

Sadly I would take Duchene in a heartbeat if he'd sign a 1 or 2 year deal

Caufield-Suzuki-Duchene
Slafkovsky-Dach-Anderson
Newhook-Monahan-Armia
RHP-Dvorak-Gallagher
Hoffman/Evans/Pitlick/Pez

Obviously still need to trade some dead weight
That fourth line takes my breath away but not in a good way.

oh my. Yes he is.

Anyway, Even if the Habs trade 2-3 guys, we still have more players than roster spots.
There are definitely players available that we could use that are better than some of our current players but it will take a lot of magic by Hughes to add anything.
