I doubt either Duchene or Pacioretty would come to Montreal anyway at this point in their careers so I think it's moot. Patches seemed very content about his departure.
If not FAs then cap dumps like Monahan was last year.

Colin White was not qualified. Wasn't he represented by Hughes ? He wouldn't, would he ?

He was, here is the list of his former clients before he became GM.

1.4m cap hit will be insignificant in 25-26. The gained value from selling some good player at the deadline will more than make up for it.

The Dadanov return was garbage we don’t need that. I’d rather get Duchene or Pacioretty and trade them at the deadline.
Assuming either would sign a 1 year deal. I would think no one would offer more than 1 year on Max unless it was a cheap deal. And then hoping they put up points this year. And with new members of the medical team maybe they don't go down with a season ending injury 10 games into the season.

Hughes is a bean counter and wants every available dollar on that 24-25 cap structure. Pretty sure the Habs can still make a Monahan-type trade with Price on LTIR.
No need to rush to make trades, teams who strike out in UFA will be looking to make deals, and teams who sign UFA will likely be looking to jettison contracts… HuGo are in a good position sit still and get leverage on the secondary trade market

I didn’t see it on the last couple pages - I think it is worth noting that McLeod is a part of the 2018 Hockey Canada investigation and (as far as I’m aware) has not denied his involvement. He made a statement but notably left a denial out of it.

Comtois was a part of the same team but has publicly denied being involved.
To know Comtois very well (We where in the same class in many class in CEGEP back then and we where sitting together), absolutely 0 chance he's involved in that

He's with the same girlfriend since Secondary school and very loyal, 0 "player" type of person, almost never drink alcool, 0 party type of guy

Dvorak good player but lot of guys getting released due to cap crunch. Can't see him fetching much in return

Maybe you’re right on that, some players that would have had value before are getting traded for nothing.

Most of these guys make way more than Dvorak though. I hardly see a team that couldn’t take him at 2.225 for what he can offer.

To add to your point, Bjorkstrand who’s more productive (although higher cap at 5.4) only went for a third and a fourth with no retention.

I wanted Olivier if CB didn't resign him and now I'd like Lucic or Reaves on the 4h line to protect all the young guys.
I don't want Arber fighting for the first 40 games after shoulder surgery.
that being said, all the old age goons are going to sign with teams that give them a chance at winning

But imagine getting rid of guys like Armia, Hoffman, Dvorak and signing younger guys still with tons of potential like Comtois, Patrick etc to replace them with. MUCH more exciting!
Well, it would be nice to get rid of guys like Armia and Hoffman but not only do i strongly doubt it, i would personally prefer to give this icetime to RHP, Ylonen, Heineman, etc.

Comtois is a hot potato and Patrick is what he is now.

Teams with an interest for Dvorak and in need for a middle 6 center:
Winnipeg
Minnesota
Vancouver
Calgary (if they trade Backlund and Lindholm)
Arizona
Nashville

Let's see if some would be willing to trade for him at 50% retention.

It's a dead horse at this point but I highly doubt there is a market for Hoffman given the buyouts of Wheeler and Duchene which made the market for wingers a bit more interesting in Free Agency.

Right now for the Habs it's all about trying to get rid of some bodies.
Too much players on this team already, can't even think about adding anyone.
I doubt there is any trade action out there right now. There aren’t any UFAs to spend money on, and teams already don’t have cap. It’s just a shit situation.

Reaves is a decent possibility IMO. We're going to have a pretty balanced top 9, so we could play the 4th line a lot less and keep a guy like him around 10-11 minutes a game, which would be optimal.

He was, here is the list of his former clients before he became GM.

An interesting name on the list? Joe Veleno. He was qualified today but maybe someone to keep an eye on depending on what the Wings do this summer. Seems like they already have a lot of forwards.

I'm good on Veleno. Maybe he reforms but let him be someone else's problem.
