There are still way more questions than answers here.

How many tickets are sold for each game and what is the revenue, sponsorship and how much ect is huge as I doubt they are getting very much from any broadcasting rights.

Here is an except from the story on Sportsnet

Just for reference I looked up the OHL attendance and there is only a single team in the OHL with less average attendance this year and the same was last year.

given that each team plays a 24 game schedule and the average salary is claimed to be $55k per year I'm not sure if that's viable but maybe the sponsorship money will be enough....?
First 2 Ottawa games tickets sold out, little over 8k each game sold.

The first idea ["Reduce size or weight of pucks a bit so women can have the same velocity in shooting as men"] is probably controversial because people will find it “belittling” to women, but those dozens of clean, unpressured cross ice passes that get fumbled and all of the horrible muffin shots could likely be resolved by just taking a couple of ounces off of the regulation puck. ...
This is the aspect of adult women's ice hockey that has frustrated me as a fan since I saw my first games in the 2017 NCAA Division I women's Frozen Four tournament. One of the four teams (Clarkson) had a high percentage of players who could pass & shoot (slapshots & wristshots) with what I considered velocity. I have since followed the college women's game and occasionally watched & enjoyed North American pro women and Olympic hockey matches, and I've seen no significant change in this skill set beyond a handful of new players. I've come to assume that this difference from equivalently developed men's hockey players was a matter of physiology (wrist strength & natural body mechanics), so I've accepted the limitations & continued to watch with lowered expectations for offensive skills in the women's game.

But @Dessloch and @LokiDog have opened my eyes wider to be intrigued by what seems like a simple change in a little black disc that could improve the game for both participants AND spectators. Where do I sign the petition to the PWHL rules committee?

Almost sure I wont watch as I barely catch the NHL games anymore but went over to the league website just to check it out. IMO the jerseys are a total fail for this new league. Nothing unique about each team. Looked at the price for these in the shop area. 115 for what looks like an inhouse league jersey. Also unless I missed it, no link on the main page for standings/stats at the top. Sadly i believe this league will only exist as long as it is propped up by the NHL or whoever wants to lose money on it. the comments in here suggest that also.

Official jerseys and logos next year, league said, suppliers didn’t have enough time.

The highlights from that game make it look cool. Then again all I saw was hits and goals. I’m sure it’s not as exciting as an NHL game but it’ll still be something to watch if it’s actually put on TV/ESPN+ down the road.

I watched for 5 minutes, I'll never watch again. This league will fold within 5 years, not enough fans want to watch women's hockey to make it financially viable.

Tickets are only $19 a person for lower bowl at the X, that admission price is worth it alone for some family friendly fun and experiences to me. I’ve paid more for packed house roller derby’s and lacrosse games there and this way I get to watch a sport I love too. I think MN will support their team initially, will need to build a following though with how many options are available to catch quality games in the region.

I always thought this was an extremely weird decision by the PWHL.

First, I think one of the foremost rules of sports fandom, per the old Seinfeld joke is "we're rooting for laundry and nothing else." So if you want to build a league with brands, get little kids excited, drawing little cartoon logos and their favorite players, selling the proper merchandise, you have to have the branding in place. Yes, you're selling the women's game, but you're also selling the laundry, the tribal affiliations. You're 50% of the way there with the colour choices, just missing some logos. Also not sure how the math works on selling the generic jerseys and then rolling out the real ones a year later...

Second, why was the January 2024 start was so critical relative to having the proper branding in place?

Zero interest for the same reason I don't watch boys high school hockey. Level of play. There are enough NHL games it's tough to keep up with - I'm not adding a league that does basically the same thing but worse.

Very low. I hope it succeeds, but I have a hard time feigning interest in any league in the US that doesn't have a team in Chicago.

Same reason why I don't remotely care about any of the recent spring football attempts.

Top men in the AHL?

Because Connor McDavid's probably about to make as much money as an entire PWHL team.

Assuming the average salary is $55k as stated and each team is carrying 23 bodies…

6 teams x 23 players = 138 players

138 x 55,000 = $7,590,000

McDavid makes nearly double the entire league’s annual salary and there are 81 players in the NHL making more than the entire PWHL combined.

Are the broads allowed to fight?

They are not allowed to hit and I have never seen a female fight where gloves have come off. Would be cool to see them drop the cages and have a good old classic hockey fight. Who can go up against Knight?

Zero for me but it's more the fact that I'm a single league fan than it is that they're women. I also have zero interest in the AHL, WHL, KHL or any other men's league.
