im genuinely stunned by chytil's ability at this stage in his development. ud think picking a 17 year old in the late teens that he wudnt really be close to NHL ready, but he sure looks like it.
 
Yeah, Chytil and Anderson are very different, and it is so so so early still for both of them in their development.
 
Chytil is looking really good, but we need to remember that he's also been put in the perfect position to succeed, he's pretty much been glued to our best wingers all pre season.

Meanwhile on the flipside, Lias has not been glued to our top wingers. I think Chytil has outperformed Lias so far, but context is still needed here.

I worry about our 3rd line going forward though, seems like this is our top-6 to start:
Kreider-Zbad-Buch/Zuke
Nash-Chytil-Zuke/Buch

Which leaves us with:
Vesey/Grabner-Hayes-JTM/Grabner for a third, given the way AV uses Hayes nowadays that's super scary, none of those players are good at defense, none of them suppresses shots at all.
Only way that works is if they shoot like 25% (exaggerated) again like last season, unless our D was the main culprit last season and everything is fine with this D.

But that 3rd definitely has me a bit worried going forward.
 
Few thoughts on today's game:
Staal is complete garbage and cannot take the spot of a young Dman. Yes young'ns make mistakes, but at least they improve and learn quick. Staal is done for.

Buchnevich, both 1st rounders played great games. Along with Lundqvist and TonyD.

Kampfer is garbage.

The AHLers need to get sent down i dont want to see them on the ice next game.

I am not as impressed with Nieves as AV is.

Fontaine was not bad but seemed like a fool when playing next to LA. Whenever LA is on the ice it seems like the kids around him cant keep up. Although Lettieri did have a good game.

Overall tough choices to make, Chytil has great skills but i dont think he is there yet mentally to make the big leagues. LA seems more ready.

Chytil's boardplay is wicked honestly.

IDK im ranting and in a very unorganized way so ill stop now.

Rangers have no good prospects. Can't draft. Finally draft a kid #7 overall only for some people to form opinions based on 3 preseason games.

I thought Lettieri was awful today, worst player on the ice pretty much... He's so incredibly weak on that puck that it's laughable. I doubt he'll even be good for Hartford this season.
He has skills and he can skate but he's so weak on the puck and on the skates that it's ridiculous.

Miler-Chytil-Zucc
Vesey-Hayes-Nash --> not happy with this, but Hayes needs to prove me wrong
Grabner-DD-Lettieri/Nieves

I love Fontaine's effort, but want him to get playing time this season. Same with Lias Andersson. Let both get significant time to round out their offensive games because they're already brilliant defensively. Lias needs to have more of an offensive impact in the future, so there's no need to rush him this season.

Chytil has had a lot of defensive lapses. Not sure he is ready yet. He would spend a lot of time in AVs doghouse

Yes.

Fourth line of

Grabner-Nieves-Desharnais.

When Fast returns, either Chytil goes back because he's struggled with the 9 games, and Grabner moves up to the top 9 with Fast slotting in or Desharnais and Nieves compete for a spot in the lineup.
