Hayes, Kreider and Zibanejad were clearly better players last year. I'd put money on Buchnevich joining that group this upcoming season.

While I'd like to agree, that's all if everything falls into place perfectly.
I'm thinking is going to take a few more years before prospects start making any kind of impact on this team..

I think some guys from tonight’s lineup get cut tonight or tomorrow. The other group gets some cuts after Tuesday’s game. I’d really like to see a pretty complete lineup the last two games.

Tbh I'm not sure they're that close. They have a Cup calibre goalie in the system but what else do they have that another dozen teams don't?

I never really wanted the Rangers to get Panarin, as I believe the success of a team depends on the core being drafted and developed, as well as growing together as a team year after year. Not by signing expensive free agents. But f*** that. That line would be domination once Chytil develops.

I was really impressed by Crowley, he seems like a complete defenseman without many weaknesses with good skill, physicality, aggression and IQ. He looked NHL ready.
Not sure if it was rust, but Shattenkirk looked bad and very slow, if this is the new Shatt then I hope we trade him I rather play ADA or Crawley.
Namestnikov need to be traded ASAP before he loses all trade value and to make room for Chytil.
Vesey was a godawful disaster the sooner he is traded the better and the coach is friends with him and keeps force feeding him ton of icetime and PP time. Target Oscar Lindberg with Vesey trade.
McLeod seemed ok.
Not sure why they decided to play 31 yearold Bobby Butler.
McQuaid was a bit disappointing.
Gilmour playing in Hartford would take away a lot of icetime from prospects, so I hope he gets traded.
Finally got to see Bigras play, did not seem like anything special.
Lettieri is playing pretty well.
Stats were not kept this game it seems.

I disagree. I always felt Staal was supposed to be a Jay McKee type player. He exceeded that before the injuries.
The coach is also not doing Namestnikov a favor by not trying him with some players like Zucc or Zib or Kreider or Chytil or Spooner. He put him this game with 2 slower players and Namestnikov was not having anybody near him to pass to.

Of all our players Chytil impressed the most. Hajek impressed as well. I liked McQuaid and Shattenkirk did fine for his first game in about 9 months. Howden played well.
I alsoliked the push back. AV kind of neutered the team and I'm glad that Quinn doesn't want his team neutered.
The Islanders played most of their best players. We played a handful and I'm not a big fan right now of either Spooner or Namestnikov or Vesey.
Commenting on Crawley--he's feisty and I like that but he's still got a lot of work to do.

Half way through preseason so here are my hottest of takes.
- Hajek and DeAngelo have been our best D. They're both playing for something though so perhaps that shouldn't be a surprise. If they both continue to do what they've been doing they both deserve to play on opening night. f*** Seniority, those sub par veterans can participate in the pre game festivities and then watch the rest of the game from a suite.
- Buchnevich has been the best forward by a ton. Hope this carries over.
- Our PK is going to suck balls. I'd say that I hope this doesn't carry over but that would be a lie. I just hope that it gets better as we find people who can actually do this.
- Chytil is going to be a monster. Whether thats this year or somewhere in the not to distant future is the question.
- Chad Andersson should at the very least start the year with the team. Keep Vesey away from him please.
- Howden is going to need time in the A. I was willing to give him a pass for the first game and while he was better in this one, it wasn't enough. A late season call up should be in the cards for him.
- I still don't understand Ryan Spooner.
