I like the mayonnaise, not so much his leadership evaluation though

am i the only one who thinks so far through 2 games Staal doesnt have a roster spot?

Skjei, Smith, Shattenkirk, McD, Pionk, ADA, and Holden all have badly outplayed him (so far)

So did Kampfer. And I'm guessing so will Day, Beargloves and Zbo.

To be clear, there is a different point saying you would rather have Chytil play in Europe and develop at his own pace at home.

It's an entirely different to say based on this game he doesn't belong. Based on his play tonight, he clearly does. Now the level of competition isn't what it will be in the regular season but still. He's played very well and is very composed and creative with the puck.

Chytil seems more ready, but Andersson is a different player. I think both can make the team in a year. They are both very talented in their own way.

With the CBA set up for contracts to slide in both cases, we need to make use of that, unless they are really making our team better and can make an impact.

Fair though I think you're probably projecting a bit about his mental state. He's said explicitly that he's trying to make the team out of camp. his unfamiliarity with the languge might be one reason he seemed hesitant

It's a decent point that being so young might be a bit difficult but if he's ready talent wise...

I might be projecting, but I just get the sense that Andersson is more ready for all that comes with playing in the NHL, while Chytil is more skilled right now. I don't know if that makes any sense. If you could combine those two aspects, I think that player would be ready to play this season.

I was also referring to an answer he gave right after being drafted where he said he preferred to play in Czech Republic instead of I think it was the AHL. Just seemed like a kid who wasn't completely comfortable with a big shift to NA yet. Probably wasn't even on his mind. This is a guy who most thought would be a mid-round pick until very late last season, he probably wasn't even thinking that he'd have a chance to start in the NHL this season. If he was picked in the mid rounds, he wouldn't even be at this training camp.

So he can't play here cause his English isn't perfect (it's certainly better than Buch's was when he came over), and he's nervous giving a huge interview, in a foreign language, like a week after his 18th birthday?

I didn't say can't. I don't see the need to rush the most promising skating prospect we have.

He is a very good hockey player right now, I think the rest of it might be a little overwhelming for him right now. I've named a bunch of things, you can shake them off, none of us know what the situation is. Thats just my opinion, I certainly don't doubt his hockey, I'm just not sure he's the type you rush to the NHL.

If a kid deserves to play then be should. Let's see how Chytil plays in the next one.

But as of right now, he has fit in nicely with Zucc and Kreider like he belongs. In fact he has driven the play at times with strong puck possession. Drew two PP.

Desjardins would make for a great 13th forward. May stick as the 12th even when Fast comes back.

I like what I have seen from DD. He is perfect for this team if he is the 4th line center.

I dont think Staal can play for this team or for a lot of teams at this point. He is just too slow.

A 4th line of Grabner/DD/Fast would be an elite 4th line.

Gettingers contract slides. We are at 47 contracts now with both Chytil and Andersson signed. Day can still slide. What are you trying to say?

As of today..Right now?
I like them both but Chytil especially, being almost a year younger, could use another year to develop and grow in Zlin. Andersson's a tougher call, I wouldn't have a problem with him playing in Hartford or Sweden this year.

Pretty much this.

You can't view the game tonight and determine he is not ready. The only thing you can say is that you want to see him against stiffer competition before making a decision.

I like what I've seen from both players. LA has a steady, Stepanesque quality about him. Chytil looks much more dynamic with an X-factor. I have no problem letting them incubate in their respective Euro leagues and then come ready for the 2018-19 season.

LA is just different than Chytil.

He is more filled out and plays a game closer to Stepan. Chytil is more talented. LA will have the better all around game on both sides of the puck.

I think Chytil fits better right now.

I understand there are 2 conflicting views, the present and future. For the future it's probably best for both to develop in Europe. Anderson is a different player, he doesn't have that offensive flash. He's a more well rounded player.

Anyway, I would rather they get 20 minutes a game playing time at home, than to see them stuck in the NHL playing 5 minutes every other game. That's a scenario I can see AV going with. He has different concerns, he has to win now.
