How long till we regret the smith signing blocking one of Pionk or ADA. Those two kids look great.

Schneider and Carey are garbage.

Eh, not really worried about it. If both Pionk and DeAngelo make a bigger impact than Smith then it's really an embarassment of riches

Neither of them have really had to do much except attack so far, which isn't a BAD thing in general but 1 period of preseason play isn't much

This team screwed itself over on the back end. Really was no need to sign Shattenkirk and re-sign Smith, you are only blocking your NHL ready youngsters and spending big amounts of the salary cap on guys who's role will be replaced by someone younger who costs much less.

We'd prefer they take the roles of Holden and Staal, but that wasn't going to happen. This team knew their choice, and they decided against giving these players a chance.

Cole Schneider had 63 points in 71 AHL games and apparently lead Rochester in scoring but he's looked completely fish out of water in the first. Should be a nice add to the farm team though.

Hey remember what happened to the last young dman who killed it in preseason and had to compete with vets for a spot?

Defensive depth is a very nice problem to have. There will be injuries and cold streaks.

lmao blaming Shattenkirk for Neal Pionk not being on the team

You can't make players disappear. The team knew its choice, they weren't getting rid of Staal or Holden, their choice was Shattenkirk and Smith or Pionk, DeAngelo, Graves, they chose the former.

Stahp

I'm not writing off Graves yet. Other than that one little glitch, he's been pretty solid so far

I like how Pionk is NHL ready and replacing Shattenkirk after 5 minutes of an exhibition game.

None of these guys are taking Shattenkirk's role any time soon...

Every single NHL GM would choose Shattenkirk and Smith over Pionk and Graves.

Lol, Shatt is one of the best OFD in the game, and on a very fair contract. A rookie isn't near replacing him in any sense of the word.
