I've liked collberg for years. Seems like I've seen him play a thousand times in the world juniors tournament. He seems to be there every year.

Its early in his pro career in Bridgeport but he's doing the same things. Strong fore check and puck pursuit in the offensive zone, smart passes, and the guy has a real knack for causing traffic in front of the net (usually without taking punishment). His sense of when a point shot is going to be taken is superb. He just drifts right past the goalie as the shot is being taken usually in a prime spot for a deflection or a rebound (and has the smarts and discipline to know when to deflect or let it go through).

He can absolutely be a silent assassin. I like his game, he still doesn't have any fear (he never did but I was worried that his shoulder injury might weaken his game mentally) it hasn't.

Sounds like Cory Conacher?

Theo Fleury was 5'6" Ho-Sang is 5'11". Reminds me of Patrick Kane, as well as another Pat, Pat Lafontaine.

Not size-wise. Style-wise. It's the way he skates and handles the puck, and his fearlessness in going to the front of the net. If we could put the two videos side by side you'll see it. And he has Fleury's chip on the shoulder too.

And in Fleury's day the average player was smaller.

Sure, if Conacher were 3 inches taller, 10 lbs heavier and not a complete ***** (cat). That boy has ZERO strength. Collberg is actually pretty strong on his skates for a guy 6'0" or 5'11" whomever you believe.

Also Cory Conacher wishes he had a wrist shot like Collberg.

Collberg may never make it, even to the level Conacher has at this point, there's always that possibility but his physical attributes as well as talent level is >C.Conacher.

interesting! and surprising.

I consider both small players - whether the 5'8"-180 and 5'11"-180 are true or not - but Conacher was a very productive player when he was 20 and even an 80pt player in the AHL. TO be honest, I thought Collberg would struggle with his adjustment to the AHL (smaller rink, bigger bodies, tougher play (generally, more physical than Sweden - though I hear that's changing in Europe).

Nice to see him off to a good start in the AHL and that he's playing with drive, not a perimeter-Robert Nilsson type.

Maybe he gets a look this season, after the Isles clinch first place in the East - around, say, January 15th-ish? :handclap:

Listened to MDC's game, had two assists, hit a post in the third. Probably had his best game since he went back to Oshawa, very active in the offensive zone.

Every shot he took was a scoring chance. His shot is ridiculously good.

He also has a bad giveaway late with a two goal lead on the PP with a minute left that directly led to a SH goal, and a near blown lead.

Metallurg Nk - Vityaz 2:5
Sorokin: 86.5 %Sv, 5 GAA,

Not as bad as it sounds. His defense let him down horribly. Tough experience for a young kid.

Highlights:
1st goal: not hit fault, powerplay, deflected
2nd goal: not his fault, made two stops
3rd goal: not really his fault either, bad giveaway in his own end and great pass.
4th goal: stoppable but blown coverage on faceoff. Close range through the five-hole.
5th goal: not his fault, breakaway, embarrassing goal: between the legs trick shot.

Yet the other goalie has given up 0 and 1 goal respectively the last two starts. Sorokin is slumping and struggling, hopefully he turns it around this season.

That stuff will happen with a young offensive forward. Hell I've seen Tavares do it and he's a superstar.

I'm wondering how our less heralded defense prospects that nobody talks about are: Somerby, Russo, Leduc, Bischoff, Pedan etc. Any NHL upside there?

As bad as Bridgeport has looked at times, I have to say that I have been very impressed with Jesse Graham. Kid always could fly, saw him a lot in Niagara. But his shot looks to be improved.... will be fun to see how he comes a long. Jesse Graham right now is better than Aaron Ness ever was.

His right handed shot is alluring, but it'd be nice to see more size, like Leduc, Pedan and Somerby, succeed in that tier.

I didn't see a struggling goalie in that last game. I saw a terrible defense. 4 out of 5 of the goals I would not put on Sorokin.

i've only watched two BP games this year, but he has impressed me as well. at 180 lbs, he has his work cut out for him, without a doubt. but he has looked very smart with the puck, defensively responsible, and of course, a great skater. being a righty is a bonus.
