Kaspar is way more ready, but I'm still higher on danielson though it'll prolly bite me in the end. Had a hard time with Augustine and Wallinder. I don't really like Augustine that high, and Wallinder feels like someone who we'll look at in a year and say he should have been a top5 guy.

I’m a little surprised more people don’t have Cossa #1?

If I were to combine who has played the best over this last year and who I think has the best odds of becoming elite at their position, it would be Cossa.

I think it's just hard to go with a goalie. I put him there and I cringed a bit but, as you said, his ceiling and his track record make it really hard to argue against it. If he dials his game in this year we are looking at a guy capable of being really special.

edit: just a note, a bit off topic, but these lists really make me miss RWC. Since Matt Wuest passed away where the Wings see their prospects has become a bit of a black box.

Yeah, historically I’ve been someone with goalie trust issues. So I get that angle. I’m just really impressed with what I’ve seen from Cossa over this last year or so. Would be cool if we get to see his debut this season.

The top 10 is very strong. It should be a fun year to watch a lot of these guys. Hopefully, Becher will come back from his injury sooner rather than later.

ASP is the only one high end prospect we have, rest is just guys that are good support and energy, Kasper, MBN, Danielson, Mazur, even Edvinsson.... .
Next 4-5 years team should be build around core players Larkin, Seider, Raymond and ASP.

Completely agree. We definitely need a bonafide future 1st line star and we simply don’t have anyone that can be potentially. More just a bunch of support 3rd line guys with high hockey iq.

Just my opinion.

Thats a stretch. Not a great skater or very fast. Great shot though. I would say at best 3rd line being moved to 2nd on some nights
AT BEST a 3rd liner?

Are you that confident that you are that much smarter than all of these publications

2024 NHL Entry Draft: Ranked #16 by Elite Prospects
2024 NHL Entry Draft: Ranked #15 by ISS Hockey
2024 NHL Entry Draft: Ranked #12 by FCHockey
2024 NHL Entry Draft: Ranked #17 by TSN/Craig Button
2024 NHL Entry Draft: Ranked #16 by McKeen's Hockey
2024 NHL Entry Draft: Ranked #17 by TSN/McKenzie
2024 NHL Entry Draft: Ranked #5 by NHL Central Scouting

Or do you not think the 2024 draft is going to produce more than a handful of players to make it to the NHL?

When did I say he wouldn't reach the NHL? I said he is probably a solid 3rd line guy who can be moved up to the 2nd line as well. I think that would line up well with where he was taken.

You saying that the absolute best a consensus top 15/20 guy from the draft can be is a 3rd liner has a lot of implications for the rest of the draft.

It was a razor thin margin for me but that was ultimately the reasoning I used to put ASP first and Cossa second. Cossa has looked great no doubt, but ASP is distinguishing himself from his comparable competition more than Cossa is IMO, though it's marginal. I think those have to be the top 2 at this point, but you can make a completely justifiable argument in favour of either of them. What gives ASP the edge for me is that he's doing some historically special things production-wise at the moment, while Cossa is 'just' very talented and solid. I think if a prospect is matching or exceeding the same-level production of an all-time great like Karlsson, he has to be the #1 prospect.

Danielson and Kasper have looked good, especially the latter with how he's looked in the NHL, but neither of them are head and shoulders above the vast majority of their peers like ASP and Cossa are. MBN just hasn't shown enough at this point, though that's not his fault since he hasn't really had the opportunity to do so yet.

You’re also implying that all forwards taken near or above him are bonafide 1st and 2nd line talent which is simply not realistic.

And yet you expect guys taken in the top 10 (Edvinsson Kasper Danielson) to be immediate superstars. Make up your mind.

Yeah I like ASP’s upside more than any forward we have at the moment. That’s why I had him at #2. I just think that is somewhat capped because I think he will likely be an offensive specialist as an NHL player (see Ghost, Hronek, etc.). Would love for his game to continue to grow and be wrong on that though.

Cossa has all the tools you would need to be elite at his position.
