Rumor: Prospect Matteau Jr article on RDS

You're saying that as if its necessarily a good thing when it very well could have made matters worse..

Seems like this is a discipline issue rather than Matteau quitting on his team. If that's the case, I'm not too worried.

I said that cause the other poster said he might of had some issues with the coaching staff.

Matteau was supposed to attend a NCAA team but he decided to join his pops in the "Q". I doubt his dad was on his ass 24/7 but I might be wrong.

It's the head coach that benched him and it's the Gm that told him to stay home, so his dad didn't really have anything to say about the matter.

The more I hear about this story the more I get the impression he had a bad relationship with the coach at the Armada which resulted in stupid decisions of acting out on both sides. Did not see anything of this in Matteau at the big club. Something about the environment surrounding the Armada organization really didn't fit with Matteau for some reason.
Also, BLB are full of *******. They tried to sue the Saint John Sea Dogs because they made a huge trade for a player who got injured after a week.
Just throwing it out there.

As I said before, based on how they treated him during the season, it`s all suspicious to say the least.

His attitude is way better than it was when he quit on his team in the middle of the playoffs at 17.

If you want to downplay what Matteau did and act as if it's not his fault, it's your problem. I just report what I've seen from him from a Q follower standpoint. I'm not a Armada or a Devils fan so I don't really have bias on this matter.

You actually do sound somewhat biased. As King said, opposing fans hated Matteau.
You sound like you're predisposed to hate him and not look at the big picture.
But that's your problem.

I do agree that Joel Bouchard is full of himself. I had the opportunity to meet him several times, since my friend was teaching hockey drills with Bouchard in this show called "Académie de Hockey McDonald's" that brought in a NHL player every week as well (you guest it... all french Canadian players ;))

He came accross as a big time ****** bag who thought he was heads and shoulders above everyone else cause he played at the NHL level and owned a QMJHL team.

P.S. I know, he has the same names like twice on that add... wich makes it even more pathetic

I love how everyone knows the whole story and can definitively say what happened.

Yeah 'cause their organization prides on acting like weenies after getting their junk speared.....

As I recall Bouchard was quite well versed in acting like a weenie in the NHL. If he'd had any fire at all, he might have had a longer playing career.

I don't hate him at all. I would actually liked him on my team. I just comment what I've seen from his attitude on the ice this year in the QMJHL.

He was supposed to play for North Dakota. I wonder if he's still eligible to join a NCAA team?

Dad-Coach-Head Coach

the mere fact his dad is one of his coaches just breaks up any attempt to logically evaluate the situation cleanly. This is Young and the Restless territory. So many reasons any one of them could be frustrated beyond belief and acting rashly.

Maybe he's too big for his Jr. britches, but maybe coach is feeling if he doesn't drop the hammer he looks weak, and maybe dad is pushing the overreaction to send a message to not only his boy, but the team as well. I'm sure Uncle Lou will ask around and make a note in the file but I seriously doubt this impacts his career path in the long term.

doubt there is more to it than this

he got benched and didnt take it very well

Can't say I really blame him if he got thrown off the team for retaliating to a groin spear and sulking a little with dad on the other bus.

His dad isn't the head coach... he's a assistant, so he doesn't call the shots.

no kidding - where did I say he was. I said ONE OF THE COACHES.

Dad-Coach-HEAD COACH those are 3 roles, 2 people if you didn't catch my drift. Dad either stayed out of the decision or pushed for very strict punishment here. Hockey dads worth their salt don't push for favoritism, they push the tough love route. I wouldn't doubt his dad pushed for the cut to get his son to realize team first above all else. Thus, the SEND THE MESSAGE part from the head coach.

I saw Head Coach and thought you meant his dad was just that, no harm no foul.

Translation from the press conference:

- Suspended (for the rest of the year) & released from the team for being undisciplined
- Was offered to take the plane with the team but decided to take the bus (with his father)
- Father is still a coach
- Matteau got several warning & discussion with management since he's back from the Devils
- He chose to desert the team after the game and that's why he got suspended & released.
