Rumor: Prospect Matteau Jr article on RDS

Translation from the press conference:

- Suspended (for the rest of the year) & released from the team for being undisciplined
- Was offered to take the plane with the team but decided to take the bus (with his father)
- Father is still a coach
- Matteau got several warning & discussion with management since he's back from the Devils
- He chose to desert the team after the game and that's why he got suspended & released.

I'm confused about the two points in bold. They seem contradictory..

If he was "offered" a spot on the plane, it sounds like he was already being treated as someone not necessarily on the plane.

Did he quit the team or was he suspended by the team?

If I was Matteau Sr, I would've told my son to get on the team bus/plane and face the shame like a man instead of taking the ***** route and and hop on bus filled with fans.

Oh well...

Looks like they didn't propose him to take the team bus.

Edit: I misread the precedent quote. So I agree with you.

The way i understand it, the team bus was not an option for him. Team wanted him on the plane, Matteau choose the fan bus instead.

Not necessarily. It's very possible that there could have been an exchange between Matteau and Bouchard that made it a better idea for them to be on separate buses. This isn't about macho ******** about "taking it like a man" but about real people. The last thing Matteau probably wanted to do was get aggravated by a coach/player etc. on the way back while his emotions were still riding high and do something REALLY stupid.

From what we hear from the Montreal Media right now:

He was pissed because he was benched, decided to leave the team and chose to take the bus instead of the plane (wasn't suspended at that time). He was suspended because he deserted the team.

Can you post tweets or whatever sources?

I don't really get how he was offered to take the team plane after he already chose to take the bus.. that just doesn't make sense.

... and that, to me, would be dodging the situation. If he get's ripped a new one by his HC or his GM, then so be it.

The last thing I'd want from my son is to avoid the mess he created, let it be his fault or not, and roll with the punches. He got speared in the junk and retaliated. Did he start this entire mess, absolutely not... but the team doesn't care cause he got the only penalty wich put his club in a rough spot.

For someone running as tight a ship as can be, I'm certain Lou would've had the same reaction when talking about a player that was told multiple times to keep his cool no matter what, for the best of the team.

How are you always so very certain of how people would react to certain situations?

We don't know what happened, what will happened, or what is going to happen. It's the same story over, and over, and over.

“We have principles and we have to respect them,†said Joel Bouchard, the Armada’s General Manager, at the press conference. “The team had offered Stefan Matteau to take the plane on Saturday night, however he preferred to take the bus with the fans.â€

He's a real life Youngblood. Maybe he will go home, learn how to fight and come back and kick Racki's ass.

So I don't know what happened, wich means I can't "speculate" based on the facts that came out... yet you and others are doing the same type of "speculation" in favour of our team/rookie and that's ok?

Yeah, good call

French Article on last page and this direct quote from the GM

“We have principles and we have to respect them,” said Joel Bouchard, the Armada’s General Manager, at the press conference. “The team had offered Stefan Matteau to take the plane on Saturday night, however he preferred to take the bus with the fans.”

From press release:

We asked him to fly from Baie-Comeau on Sunday morning, but the player decided to leave right away with a fans bus.

My view:

Bus left before the plane and he decided to go on it.

Let me fix that :

"He was pissed because he was benched after reacting the way a NORMAL MAN would react after having his junk get speared by a friggin' stick. He then decided to take the bus(on the advice of his old man) instead of being on the same plane as the Head Coach where he would've decided to demonstrate on him what it felt like to be speared in the balls"

That is more likely the case.

So let me get this straight:

-Matteau and the coaching staff are at odds all year
-Matteau takes a penalty in the 2nd period
-Coaching staff benches him the rest of the game
-Matteau says "**** this ****, I'm out" and leaves the game
-Coaching staff tells him to get on the next flight out of here
-Matteau says "Good, I was leaving anyway" and gets on the fan bus with his dad to go home
-Team officially releases him

Is that pretty much what happened?
