Hell they even kept a leash on Matteau while he was here, you didn't hear a peep out of him and he didn't even take a major penalty when he's been a psycho elsewhere.

You guys sure are judgemental. Let the kid grow a bit. :shakehead

This. Get off your high horses. Imagine how you would feel if you had an entire internet forum full of grown men and women scrutinizing decisions you made when you were 19?

I'm sure Matteau did things/said things he shouldn't have said/done. I'm also sure the Armada overreacted a bit out of high emotions. I'm sure Matteau will want to learn from this and make himself into a better player to prove to the Armada they were wrong. There's no motivation like being an outcast.

Corrente's issue hasn't been atitude problems with us, he just sucks lol. Nobody was fixing Danton. Cormier I don't think was ever 'in' our system really, iirc he was in juniors too. He was a draft pick but it's not like Lou and co. were in his ear constantly.

Haha what kinda rehab was Corrente in? The guy has been on life support for most of his time with the organization, and now he's just a corpse pretty much.

Well that's life in the big city...comes with the fame and/or money of being a pro athlete or any public figure (politician, entertainer/actors, etc). Not that some things about it don't suck, but let's get real - it ain't like Stefan's reading HF on a daily basis.

If anything it's probably a bigger deal in Canada, which has a super-duper microscope on anything hockey-related at every level. Weren't there going to be mass arrests of the Hab team (the Kostitsyns among others) some while back and it turned out to be much ado about nothing?

For what its worth.... Our Prospect Danny Kristo was facing career ending injury when he almost lost his toes to frost bite over some stupidity in North Dakota. He's playing in Hamilton now and had his best NCAA season this year.

Bumps happen, Quebec just happens to amplify them more so then other jr teams.

Matteau may be a hot head but someone will pick him up or he may get exceptional status to play in Albany. Chillax folks.

He doesn't need any exceptions to play in Albany next year. He wasn't drafted out of the Q so he can play in Albany as long as he doesn't start the season in Juniors.

I think he'll be in the A next year. I always said he'd be in the A next year even after his audition in the big leagues seemed like it would last the whole season. Some people told me he wasn't, but now it's looking like he'll most definitely be there next season. He could replace Ponikarovsky's role with no problem, and might even be better too. I'd rather him stay in the minors a year though.

Yup, Danton, Corrente and Cormier are shining examples of our rehabilitation process

No, but a guy like Arnott is. We turned him into the top centre in the league from the petulant kid who arrived from Edmonton. There are more examples, but it's early and I can't think of them off the top of my head.

But dad, I don't want to work on the chicken line tomorrow morning at BK! I'm gonna yell at my boss since it isn't fair that I have to turn the chicken.

That's ok son, you're smarter than them anyway.

Problem is, the bar was set so low with the initial reports what actually did happen pales in comparison. No, it's not good he yelled at the coaches in front of the team and has had to be warned about discipline before. He is 19 though, I doubt this is really an omgz gots to go situation (especially since he didn't have an issue 'here'). More like a stern tongue lashing from the godfather and spend some time in the AHL next year kiddo situation.

He didn't flip out when he was with the big club cause he was a 19 year old rookie among men, playing in the best league on earth and having Lou Lamoriello as his main superior instead of Joel Bouchard.

He probably got told by DeBoer "Hey kid, you're a healthy scratch tonight"... and he probably responded by saying "Thanks coach, I'll do anything to help the team out, so I'll just chill in the press box and cash my paychecks regardless".

For a team in the middle of the playoffs, to cut a player with NHL experience, isn't anything to brush off like it's no big deal. It probably isn't the end of the world either but acting like it's just a minor speed bump doesn't seem reasonnable... according to Lou's "standards" that is.

all fair points. I guess im already on edge with younger players trying to get playing time under deboer, this just makes it even harder for him going forward I would imagine. I know he got played on the 1st line for 5 minutes, which under PDB is a miracle, but his uphill climb may have just become a mountain. and his power bars are made up of apple cores and old chinese newspapers. time shall tell. really, im expecting a similar roadblock for merrill.

Don't misunderstand me, this is a problem, but by no means does this mean Matteau is a bust or a failed prospect. He'll be playing Pro next year, and will have to shape up or ship out. Don't think for a second that Lou and Co. are going to be lenient with the kid - after this weekend, he'll be on a short leash for sure. He deserves that. But remember that as you yourself said above, he's been fine as a pro. If he contiues to listen respectfully to his pro coaches, his GM and his fellow pro teammates, I really don't have a problem with it. That's an "if", though.

I'm absolutely not happy he got himself involved in this circus (which IMHO reflects really badly on Bouchard and the Armada, as well), but considering he's been nothing but a solid prospect at the NHL level, I'm willing to cut the kid a little slack and assume a wait-and-see attitude. You should too, but that's just my oppinion. :)

For the first part, I'm just saying that Matteau isn't stupid enough to act like a player who's "made it" and that's why he didn't say a word when he was with our team at the begining of the year, so saying "he was ok when he played for us" doesn't really paint the proper picture IMO.

For the second part, I think the Armada made the proper decision cause like Lou would tell just about anyone, there's no player that is more important then the team and when acting like he did, he put his personnal issues in front of the team and that can't happen... EVER, regardless of the actions that he suffered.

Is he going to bust cause of that incident, I doubt it, but he'll have to work long and hard on his attitude issues if he wants to be a part of this organisation in the long run.

What I get from this whole ordeal:

-18 year olds, on occasion, act like 18 year olds
-Every single person in the Q hates Stefan Matteau: team mates, opponents, coaches, and administrators alike.
-Joel Bouchard and the Armada are a bunch of raging dick heads.
-Matteau is almost guaranteed to play in the AHL next year.
-The Canadian media likes to blow everything out of proportion.

That about cover it?

Personally, I think he'll just have to score a few goals.

Well that's not really the point in this entire mess.

I mean, even if he turns out to be this perfect person, he'll have to contribute on the ice to warrant a spot.

But if he turns out to be a headcase, despite the fact that he's scoring goals, I don't see Lou keeping a player like that around in the long run.

Couldn't be more off based but that's ok, since he's one of our own, we'll just brush off the fact that he pulled a tantrum on the bench, didn't like the decision of him getting benched by his HC when he was told MULTIPLE TIMES to stay "in line" and took the "fan bus" instead of the team plane immediatly after the game instead of the following morning, wich was offered by that raging dick head Bouchard.

Again, if that was Kris Kreider pulling the same ****, 99% of this board would be laughing at the misfortune of the Rags.
