He's not going to Europe. The CHL would have a fit if NHL teams started skirting their player development agreement to loan kids out to European teams. It's different when it's a Goldobin situation where the player came from Europe to begin with, but they're not doing it with a high-end talent North American player.

I'm not sure why this concept has persisted for so long. It's not happening. It never really has happened.
It persists because it's best for his development to play against people bigger and better than him. I think the ahl should have a 2 man underage roster spot as well. I don't care what the ohl thinks, I care about extracting what's best for sharks draft picks

Remember y'all, it's just a scrimmage. Fun game to go like always. I liked Chekhovich, Merkley, Ferraro, and Blichfeld. Gallant was pretty solid but his fight was a little over the top. Yurtaikin had some moments too.

You have to care what the OHL thinks because a smooth working agreement between the CHL and the NHL (and by extension AHL) is the best thing for the Sharks and any other future prospects. If the Sharks piss them off by essentially doing an end-run on the purpose of the CHL/NHL agreement, it risks souring that relationship, not to mention the potential to open the floodgates to other teams thinking they can start doing the same thing.

This is a symbiotic relationship, not a place for cutthroat selfishness.

Gallant played with an edge. He looked good, but it seems like everyone named Gallant has to act like a prick.

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see what happens with him he did play well. Among all of the others that played well I really hope Kotkov turns out great too, he seems to have a good style about his play.

Seriously. That was why I thought he might have been related to those Gallant brothers that beat everybody up in the AHL. I know we had at least one of them on the Barracuda a while back.

How did McGrew look? He's my new Balcers.

I can't speak to this game specifically because I honestly didn't notice McGrew much at all, but from the last couple of years of watching him vs the times I watched Balcers in the WHL: McGrew is not the new Balcers. They don't have the same level of impact on the game.

Not comparing them. Just saying he's my new underdog prospect to hype.

Ah..

McGrew doesn't have the "it" for me in an underdog.

Come join me on the Blichfeld hype train. We've got pastries.
