Reddens puck distrobution has been very good. Him and Foote have been solid, Bouwmeester and Blake have been fine. Pronger and McCabe are the only d men underperforming. I dont think everyone should rip on the rest of the D core they have been fine.

Why does everyone hate Pronger. I wish he had withdrawn like Niedermeyer. At least then his foot cold heal and Quinn wouldn't be playing hin 30 minutes a night when Team Canada plays 4 games in 5 nights.

I actually would love to know what some of you fools are honestly watching, tell me what d men have been better than Pronger, really better
Foote - has he even been out there ? oh yeah he was there for the nice two hander on Selenne
Blake - yeah he is probably been our best d man
Rehger - what has he done besides nothing at all, oh yeah and getting beat constantly out of the corners
McCabe - next
Redden - once again one good rush and be thankful he scored that because he has been slow all prelim round and would not have got back to help Foote in that Italy game
Bouwmester - as I said before has the guy even made a pass prior to this game ?

You sit there and talk all you want about Pronger but tell me really who's fault was that first goal - what is Pronger supose to split into two and take Selenne as well ? or split into three to intercept that pass, and take both Selenne and Koivu. As well tell me what did he do wrong up until the "penalty" he took - which was garbage with all the holding that was going on prior to that and I love how Selenne went down like he was shot.
Ok, so Pronger is the best smelling pile of crap?

I'll write this to you as well. I wish Pronger would have withdrawn from the Olympics like Niedermeyer and I wouldn't have to read this crap of Pronger. He's playhing injured and Fat Quinn is overplaying him. Fat Quinn is playing Pronger 30 minutes a game when Team Canada played 4 games in 5 nights. Pronger or any player for that matter will get tired playing that much. The reason he's been getting penalties is because he's tired from playing so much. In Edmonton, there were times, when they played BTB, Pronger didn't play as much in the second of the BTB games as in the first game. Fat Quinn has another 2 pairings so there's no need to play Pronger 30 minutes. I wouldn't be surprised if after the Olympics are over, Pronger reveals how serious the injury is. The injury can't get any better by playing 30 minutes a game.

Pronger is Canada's best defenseman, and that's why he's out there for 30 minutes a game, and that's why he is on the ice when the other team's top line is on the ice.

Its unfortunate, because Canada's best defenseman is not even in this tournament.

If it's any consolation, Pronger is team Canada's nicest piece of crap!

should've been more clear earlier, it was more a jab at the other players.

Scott Niedermayer is such a joy to watch on the big ice.... the team really misses his skating and break-out passes.

Blake, Pronger, Redden, are all similar, big bodies who are good at both ends..

Bouwmeester is a good skater but is easily outmuscled and poor positionally at times

Regehr is not very fast, but mean and solid defensively. Foote too.

There is no burner on the blue-line, like Niedermayer, or even Jovanovski (but he has sucked this year...)

My favourite part about this thread is how Al MacInnis was a giant piece of crap three years ago. Maybe that was a different Al MacInnis wearing #2 for the Blues that year. :dunno: It certainly wasn't the same one in the playoffs . . .

My 2nd favourite part about this thread is how Saku Koivu is weak on his skates and has no ability to make moves and create things around/behind the net.

My 3rd? Pronger has always been overrated. He's just a big oaf who has no coordination and couldn't skate his way out of a room with no doors or walls. And he also has a horrible shot.

Lots going on here...

Nice to see Pronger supporters as I am an Edmonton guy. But great...he's going to kill himself out of pride (he will never quit). It would be nice if he wasn't hurt so would produce as he does on a regular basis, but it's just not happening.

Saw him in the Finland game with a total tee-up job that could not have been set up any more perfect, but he wasn't on his feet, so it became a knuckler...didn't even hit the net.

As I see, if Canada loses, this is a no win for him for sure. Didn't perform, so everyone *****es, then back to Edmonton where he will have to decompress after completely killing himself in the Olympics.

Makes it tough to bring in athletes to the Olympics after that. Lots have pulled up this year to injury (somewhat) prior to the olympics (I'm sure to ownership an GM pressure).

After this year, many are already talking about the NHL/Olympic committment. I got ripped in another thread for bringing it up (Olympics back to amateurs). I don't want to see it, but I also don't pay these guys salaries. And by the same token, I did say walking out your front door is just as hazardous.

To wrap up, I just don't like seeing guys burn themselves when the playoffs are coming up...

Are some of you happy bashing one player for Team Canada's woes. Pronger is being overplayed by Fat Quinn for 30 minutes on an injured foot when Team Canada played 4 games in 5 nights. Do you enjoy bashing when Pronger is tired because Fat Quinn overplays him. Is that all you can do is bash one player when the the whole team is playing like crap. Defense and goaltending isn't the problem with Team Canada. It's the offense. Where is Iginla, Heatley, Nash, St. Louis, Lecavlier, Richards, Bertuzzi. It's the forwards that should be criticized not someone who very likely could be very tired from being overplayed by Fat Quinn.

Don't be surprised that after the Olympics it's revealed the Prongers injury is more serious than was originally announced. Would Pronger have gone to the Olympics if Niedermeyer was healthy. Me thinks not. Who would you guys be blaming if Pronger had withdrawn due to injury? Is there so much hate for Pronger that you only criticize one player. It's not Pronger's fault that the forwards can't score.

I agree... the NHL really needs to do something about this.

While it ultimately is the players decision, you cannot say it is fair that Pronger is busting his *** with a bum foot over in Turino, while Naslund and Kiprusoff are both relaxing and resting up for the cup run.

Hell, I heard rumors that Kipper even went to Hawaii... If he is healthy enough to fly, he should have gone to Turino to support his teammates... I think the NHL has to either completely drop out of the Olympics, or impose some kind of legitimate testing on injuries/players backing out.

Foote - has been playing pretty well... if you don't notice him he is doing his job... and don;t forget him robbing germany (i think) when they had a wide open net
Blake - yes he has been our best d-man
Regehr - he was playing ok until the game agsint the finns... he had a pretty bad game
McCabe - he's supposed to be there for the PP... and he's not even helping there
Redden - i havent been too impressed... seen him pinching at the wrong times alot
Bouwmeester - been out of position alot... but had a good game agaisnt the finns and wasnt horrible against the swiss
Pronger - has looked slow... has been caught flat footed at the offensive blue line a few times... has taken way too many cross checking pentalies

after 4 games i would rank teh canadian D as follows...
1. Blake 2. Foote 3-5 toss up between Bouwmeester, Redden and Regehr 6. Pronger 7. McCabe

i'd really like to see Pronger pull out so Boyle could dress

 Doesn't Quinn have 7 defensemen at his disposal. I thought Pronger wouldn't have to play as much in the Olympics as there are other reliable defensemen on the team. Why is Quinn overplaying Pronger. I wouldn't be surprised if the injury Pronger is struggling with has gotten worse. The injury is affecting him or else Koivu wouldn't have gotten past him.

Who would Quinn play 30 minutes then? This is Quinn's fault as he isn't balancing the icetime of his defensemen.

still can't see where the woes of team Canada can be put at the feet of Pronger.
seems to me there is enough blame to go around.

the biggest problem seems to be the coaches and team selectors assumed that previous chemistry would instantly reappear, and it hasn't done so.

I realize this may sound petty, but none of the defensemen can consistently make a ****ing break-out pass...

That isnt a rumor kipper did go to Hawaii. If he is healty enough to fly? lol what about naslund their homerboy? Kipper has an inflamed hip - let me spell that out for ya

What is the treatment of hip bursitis?
The best treatment for hip bursitis, or any form of bursitis, is to rest the affected area. This usually means a period of time not participating in sports or activities that aggravate your symptoms. As a general rule of thumb, any activity that causes hip bursitis pain should be avoided--this only contributes to inflammation of the bursa.

Its an injury that he can play with - but it will only get better with rest - which is why he dropped out - he is getting paid millions by his NHL team - his obligation is to them.

Personally I was angry with his decision to play on Team Canada. I wanted him to stay home and heal his foot. The Oilers take precedence over Team Canada anyday of the week, and by the looks of this thread he wouldn't have been missed anyways.

Like another poster said, you need to score to win games. I don't recall any of that happening in the last two games....anyone? Just maybe we are pointing our blame in the wrong direction? :sarcasm:

Couldn't have put it any better. Fools. These guys calling him "overrated" would give their left nut to have him, so the heck with them.

When I *****ed out Pronger for losing a battle to Saku Koivu, I really should have qualified taht statement by pointing out that Saku Koivu is an extremely well-built 5'11 who has great lower body strength and great balance.

I'm not even going to bother... I hate having people like you completely misread and missinterpret my posts..

its also interesting that you are not the first (or second, for that matter) Flames fan to hide behind the nickname of another team.

There was a user with the name Canucks_Rule floating around, maybe you know him? ;)

You.ve got to be kidding. Testing people who back out? It's everyones friggin' right to say 'I'm not playing', Doesn't matter what the reason is.

You are correct, when the team can't break out of teh zone to save their bloody lives... the blame go to the d-men and the forwards.

1) Whomever carrying the puck through the neutral zone has NO puck support. The guy is always 1 on 2 and trying to move through the zone

2) There's always 4 opposing sweaters in the neutral zone

3) Therefore: Dump, chase, dig, repeat.

This is not aimed at Pronger but at all Team Canada players (there's a few guys that's doing dirty work): STOP TRYING TO CARRY THROUGH THE TRAP

Dump, chase, dig, repeat. That's how they're beating you.
