I hate Iginla, just because he plays for Calgary, but I would love to have him on my home team. Where has he been? Thornton? They guys I think have made the most impact (Big Burt and Nash) are the ones who seem to really be hated on.
Canada made a mistake leaving off guys like Crosby and Staal. I'm no Crosby fan boy but they could really use this guys speed and playmaking. Canada is a big physical team, but where's the speed? some of the guys with speed, like St.Louis are not having good years. I know Staal is no burner but he's already near LeCavaliers level IMO.

the reason why people are complaining about the D is because it hasn't been up too par. No offense to Koivu but Pronger shouldn't lose battles on the wall too him, also a part of creating offense is good outlet passes and Canada has struggled there.

Was it Pronger who said he has pains, but he can live with them because he wanna play in the olympics? Gotta respect his attitude, but ofcourse it´s bad if he´s not in his best. The big ice added to the strict rules seemed to cause problems against Finland. He couldn´t glue Koivu to the boards.

By the way, what is this thing between Pronger and Selänne? They have had their battles in the past, they had some kind of chat after the game, also.

Selanne, one of the softest players to earn a paycheck in NHL turns into superman whenever he's not getting paid to play in international events and cheap shotted Pronger's face into the seam between the glass back at Salt Lake, slitting his forehead open and bleeding...Pronger couldn't retaliate because so much was on the line at the time...and Pronger still haven't paid him back yet...perhaps, he's too slow to catch him???

Can you stop this crap already. Pronger is injured and Koivu wouldnt' have beaten Pronger had been Pronger been healthy. I'm really getting sick of this Pronger bashing. Pronger is sucking it up as his foot is in pain. He shouldnt' even be playing but is sucking it up.

All I can say is, as an Oilers fan, I dont really give a damn how badly Prongs plays in the Olympics, so long as he comes back to EDM healthy, and continues to show us night after night that he is indeed on of the most dominant defenseman in the game.

Truly, anyone who takes his poor play in Turin, as an oppurtunity to bash Prongers talent and ability in general, is a moron. He has been simply outstanding all year for the Oilers, and I've no reason to belive that hes lost that ability in the week or so that he has been in Italy.

I hope he picks it up, and I hope Canada plays well, but Pronger is hardly the only big ticket player to do absolutley nothing in Turin (Iginla, Richards, Gagne, Thornton, Nash, Redden, Sakic...I could go on).

Counterpoint. If Pronger is that badly injured, he shouldn't be in Italy, but at home resting his injury. The team that pays his salary should come first. The Olympics should dump the pro athletes in all sports, not just hockey, and revert back to the non-pro players.

I agree that he shouldn't have gone and healed the broken foot. Pronger is sucking it up with pain in his foot because he loves playing for Canada. I do wish he wouldn't have gone and healed the foot instead.

Playing half the game doesn't help the injury get better. Doctors said it wouldn't get worse but it also won't get better. All the defense of Team Canada are either playing injured or are coming back from injury. It didn't help when Niedermeyer had to withdraw because of injury either.

Chris Pronger is EIGHT INCHES TALLER and THRITY-SIX POUNDS HEAVIER than Saku Koivu.

Like I said, Koivu is a great skater, has wonderful balance and agility, and has good lower-body strength. But that was bloody ridiculous.

Pronger has been bad, but Pat Quinn INSISTS on sticking him out there 25 minutes a night.

It's already been pointed out that Hitchcock is the one that takes care of the defense units 5 on 5, no matter how many CAPITAL LETTERS you use in your posts.

I'd say Pronger and Bouwmeester were the two strongest Canadian defenseman today (against the Czechs).

So.. he's the first star today and I hear a lot of crickets. If you're going to rip him when he's bad, you sure as hell better compliment him when he's the best player on the ice.

It's more like 28 to 30 minutes.

I believe it is Jaques Martin who changes the defense.

During an pre Olympic interview Hitch was talking about how he was going to use the defenceman and the game plan but, they may have switched up because I saw Martin doing the changes today. Maybe because Martin has coached both Redden and JBo.

I actually I did know. I read it like 8 times. But I like Hitchcock's stache, and his names takes more letters to type.
