Why does this guy take such stupid penalties? he crosschecks guys and thinks he will get away with it? Not only that, but losing a battle to Saku Koivu?

Canada has too many cement feet defensemen IMO.Dogbert said:I've been VERY disappointed by Pronger. He's been the worst defenseman on the team, and that includes McCabe (if only because Pronger is getting so much more ice time than McCabe is).
He shouldn't be on the ice with his injury, but he made that decision, so it's not an excuse for his poor play.
I agree the injury is reallyl hurting him. Pronger has an injured bone in his foot. To make matters worse, Quinn is overplaying Pronger. With Niedermeyer and Jovonovski withdrawing with injuries, Canada didn't need another defenseman withdraw due to injury. There was actually doubt of Pronger going to the Olympics. How would Canada be fairing if Pronger also had to withdraw due to injury?Oilerfan120582 said:it must be the broken foot, because he has been great for Edmonton this year. He has also been remarkably disciplined in the NHL. I think his foot has slowed him down considerably, and the penalties are a result of him compensating for a lack of foot speed. I really don't think he should be playing in his condition.
We'd get Phaneuf or Boyle.Smyth2Hemsky said:I agree the injury is reallyl hurting him. Pronger has an injured bone in his foot. To make matters worse, Quinn is overplaying Pronger. Canada would probably be fine since they have 3 teams that would win gold.Smyth2Hemsky said:I agree the injury is reallyl hurting him. Pronger has an injured bone in his foot. He has a broken bone in his foot. There was actually doubt that he'd go to the Olympics. He's probably getting tired by playing so many minutes. Playing around 30 minutes a night when Team Canada played their 4th game in 5 nights vs Finland is bound to make anyone tired. Someone shold tell Quinn he has 2 more defense pairings besides Pronger and Blake.millions said:Had a feeling Pronger would be coming up pretty quick on the board. The guy plays monster amounts of ice time (and at critical moments be it the power play or shorthanded). Granted, he has not been the impact guy as of yet, and yes, whats up with all the penalties?
There must be a bit of an injury for sure. I also find his passing is not as crisp as usual. The guys still a great player and I have to wait to see if things improve as, unfortunately, the prelim round really means zip other than giving the pundits something to rant about.
Does Canada really have 3 teams that could win gold? I'm beginning to wonder about this. Pronger probably would have withdrawn had Niedermeyer been healthy.RallyKiller said:Canada would probably be fine since they have 3 teams that would win gold.
I think he may have been being a tad bit sarcastic.Smyth2Hemsky said:Does Canada really have 3 teams that could win gold? I'm beginning to wonder about this. Pronger probably would have withdrawn had Niedermeyer been healthy.
Taking penalties is the result of being very tired and it's apparent that Quinn is playing him too much.Rob said:Being injured is no excuse for taking bonehead cross-checking penalties.
he didn't take one hooking or holding penaltyOvechkin_mvp said:Isn't it obvious.
He's not a mobile defenceman no the big ice.
Those Finns were too quick for him.
He couldn't catch up, so he took penalties.
