Prospect Info: Prokhor Poltapov, F (33rd overall, 2021) CSKA Moskva (KHL)

I see he's back in the MHL - had a couple of hot games (2-1-3 in a 5-3 loss, then 0-2-2 in a 4-1 win). Looks like he was held pointless in his last game though.

He's been jerked around this year they really should have sent him down weeks ago when the KHL went on hiatus

I might go back and watch those games on 2x speed just to see how he's doing. Granted, his style is not MHL-ish - being a bull and initiating contact is just not what this league is about.

I wonder if the heavy sanctions put on by the NATO allies over Russia's invasion will make things harder for our Russian players and teams especially when the Rubble has dropped so low. Should the Sabres be looking to get these guys signed sooner so they can play in the AHL or some Swedish league instead?

Poltapov has a long contract, they are unlikely to give it away now.

Without any working agreement now that the NHL has withdrawn from having anything to do with the KHL, I don't think it's going to be easy for anyone to easily get someone to shift leagues. Poltapov's KHL contract runs through 2024. He needs to work on his game still just from a hockey perspective so they may just leave him. Kisakov though I don't think has a contract for next year anywhere but would have to find a way to leave (drive to Finland) and then there are the risks of people strong-arming his family (or him) if he does so.

Until the weight of recession of the rubble drop's even lower teams are forced to close down, Russian teams may end up looking to shed contracts just to stay afloat.

I doubt it, on the contrary, then they will play cheap young players like Poltapov.

That's still a ways off. For now, Poltapov is under contract (and it's unlikely to be all that expensive of one) until 2024.

Birthday - he's a 4/20. I see why you're high on him.

420/weed jokes land like spilled bongwater if people don't know the North American reference. Solid joke though, made me snort.

Birthday? No, that's not the point. He has size and skill.

Yeah ONG recommended I keep an eye out for him. Impressive combination of size and skill, could be an interesting project player.

Poltapov has looked a little off today, though he did have that post he hit on the PP.

This is their last chance, they play up to three win.

And their work just got harder. That 2nd PP unit again - were those the guys who gave up the shortie? I wasn't fully paying attention.

(Some say I'm never fully paying attention. :biglaugh: )
