Brooklyn via NJ, like the Nets
Jack Hughes doing Jack Hughes things… not much to say there. The potential line he’s centering looks very good. Palat is what he’s needed for a while.

The top pairing was also the top pairing. Dougie is looking back to his old self uncaged.

Zetterlund is going to be a tough, tough cut. Wood is looking like he hasn’t missed a step.

The defense looks more structured, and the goaltending so far is less prone to dumb errors.

Exile Geertsen to the depths of the Hudson. Seriously, he’s useless. Omg get him away from us

I thought Dougie was okay - his defensive game wasn't great IMO but that is probably what we will get with him. I thought Nemec was very solid and looks like he could potentially be competent in a 3rd pair role - though we don't need to put him in that spot.

I don't know how we will be able to cut Zetterlund. He is going to make one of Tatar/Johnsson very expendable.

They have to flip one and Bernier is the best candidate. If they can't then I waive him.
I’d rather carry three goalies and dump one or both of Johnsson and Tatar. Maybe just maybe Bernier could help if a goalie is hurt. Johnsson and Tatar are completely replaceable to me.

I'm not sure how there can still be any doubts on this.

Palat, Hughes, and Holtz did look good together tonight, and probably in camp practices over the past week too. But I'd like to see them in a few games together continuing to perform at a high level before we declare them a good fit.

The lines to start the season are almost never the same as those even a few weeks in, and one preseason game is nowhere near enough to judge players. We are too quick to jump to conclusions here.

I loved seeing our power play entries without the stupid ass drop passes. And how we just kept the puck moving.

Also our break outs, the use of the wings to take a short lateral pass if the cross ice pass wasn’t there.

Obviously there are going to be better systems this year and it’s a welcome welcome change.

Nah they still did that. The difference is they didn't force it.

We made their penalty kill chase the fluid zone entry by the puck carrier. Didn’t let the penalty killers all just line up at the blue line and wait for our trailing guy to end up with the puck and just try to skate through the maginot line. Yes that’s not forcing it.

Palat is redundant being with Nico. He's a much better fit with Jack.

Guy has made a career playing next to stud forwards. No reason not to continue that

Not really what my point was, but that is correct as well.

Bratt and Jack play similar roles.
Nico and Palat play similar roles.
Holtz and Sharangovich play similar roles.

So, it makes sense to form 2 lines with these 6 players which includes Palat with Jack.

It was so annoying watching them force it last season when the pkers were already in position to just deny the entry.
