Probably targeting an opening night appearance for Lindgren but in the meantime gives us a lot more time to look at some other options.
Jones has a big opportunity in front of him to get more 5v5 time ahead of Lindgren. I'm not sure if there is anyone else in the organization that can jump into an NHL role on the left side currently, and that is a big issue. Scanlin and Robertson are the two guys that stand to see the time. Ben Harpur can never play for this team again. I guess Ruhwedel would get that first shot of playing, but someone has to move from the right to the left.

I hope Drury is monitoring who is getting put on waivers as camps wind down. A veteran LHD that can play will pop up. It seems to happen every season, especially since teams can find LHD easier than RHD.

Robertson is day to day with a lower-body injury.

That leaves Scanlin, Harpur, and an off-side Ruhwedel.

Another look at Lindgren's fight. He goes to fight Mayfield but only ever gets one glove off. His grabbing hand has the glove still on and it's not a very good grab. He was able to tie him up for a while but the bigger stronger Mayfield eventually twists and wrenches him into a takedown and that's probably where the injury comes from. He would have better just squaring off instead of rushing in but I don't think he was going to win that anyway. I don't think he threw one punch---he just grabbed and held on and I have to wonder what was the point?
He is a terrible scrapper....but certainly not a chicken like a few guys we have are . I'm glad he went at him and it tightens teams if they do it on a consistent basis .
