Anyone catch MBN truck that guy at the redline?
It was right after the faceoff at center ice for the Raymond goal for anyone that wants to see it. But yeah he smoked him.

As for the game itself. Kasper was the best player on the ice. Mazur looked really solid as well. If they both play like that all preseason, Yzerman is gonna have some tough decisions to make. Cossa didnt have a crazy busy night but he looked really solid with a point blank save at the end on Bedard as well.

Still weird seeing Bert in another uniform.

I want Soderblom to figure it out so badly, he'd be a unicorn of a player if he could just be stronger and have a half a step more to his skating.

1) Kasper looks legit, his hands have popped off a lot more than I thought considering all the "Scouting reports" stating otherwise. I think he's what we would like Veleno to be...already
2) Mazur could also contribute to the roster this year
3) Berggren better have a great preseason or he may be trade fodder (not that he isn't already
4) I'll echo everyone else. Gus has looked shaky at best. Bunch of boneheaded plays
5) Husso...bleh. I hope they figure out a way to move on from him. I know he's probably rusty but those are tough goals. Can't let Craig Smith behind you after all of the zone pressure but the recovery off f the post shot looked lazy at best. The 2nd goal was tricky I suppose but still looked very weak
6) WHAT A SHOT by Mattaa
7) Raymond looks bored...but in a good way, like he's ready to dominate.
8) Edvinsson is going to be something. He looks and plays such a calm game and still gets involved in the offense.
Agree with basically all of this.

And MBN looked really good today.
MBN- Kasper- Mazur should be a line.

Johansson looked pretty terrible

Great:

Kasper was excellent tonight. (First time seeing him play in game and was impressed)

Good:

Larkin and Ray looked in season form already tonight.
Ed was solid making mostly good plays, though wasn't blown away by how good he is either.
Mazur looked quick and smart out there.
Cossa wasn't really tested but he looked very calm in net which is nice to see.
Soderblom skates very well and if he could be tougher on the puck he could be something good.
Motte and Watson I thought looked pretty good in a 4th line grind kind of way.
Maatta looks like calm 3rd pair defender you expect despite the hate he gets around these parts for some reason. I expect he will be babysitting Gus this year.

Yuck:

Husso, see the two goals and enough said.
Gus had a really rough debut, so that isn't great to see
Petry playing top 4 is not nice to see even in preseason

Other:

MBN's skating just doesn't look great to me. He made some solid plays, but his skating makes it seem like he is in 1st gear or something.
AlJo was ok, not good not bad.
Veleno didn't look horrible, but didn't look like he is any better than last season either.
In a preseason game where wins really don't matter, I don't understand why coaches give hardly any ice time to players like Finnie, Lombardi. (Hard to make much of an impression with what maybe 5-7 minutes of ice time.

It was a pretty fun game. Great that hockey is finally back.

I thought Raymond and Kasper were the standouts. A lot of the guys looked pretty rusty out there. Cossa and Mazur had good games, too. I'm looking to see more out of Soderblom. I'm sure he was rusty, but nothing was working for him out there.

Kasper being praised by Chicago announcers is a positive. Raymond looked good all game. Nice for him to get one. And Maatta too. Also Cossa looked good too. Husso is well... still Husso. Lol

Imagine if Danielson looks like Kasper come Friday night? Great problem to have.

The young guys look hungry, I love it. Get them on the roster. Punt on any bottom six vet we have, they can all go for all I care.

Motte-Veleno-Watson were useless in a preseason game.
Lombardi-Finnie-Mazur did better grinding when given ice time than the Veleno line.
Kasper was a standout. Should be 3C this year.
MBN needs more seasoning but I like what I watched.
Mazur is ready and fits that Hyman/Bertuzzi mold perfectly.
Johansson was rocky to start. Maybe nerves? After he settled AlJo played the way I expected. Won his puck battles, completed good, short, safe passes and got the puck out.
Cossa looked so smooth mechanically. I want to see more, but he might be ready this year.
Edvinsson looked steady. I liked his offensive activation but I don’t know if he’s going to be higher than a 40 point guy at max.
Soderblom had some nice shifts in the 3rd but mostly dragged his line down in p1 and p2.

Kasper stood out in this game. Not sure what his ultimate upside is, but he’s a worker bee with some skill… a very high floor at least.

And small sample size, but… Cossa. We want him getting a lot of games, so Detroit doesn’t really make sense this season, but there’s no way he’s not one of the three best goalies in the organization currently.

Dafuque? Your bias is showing, you dweeb :naughty:

There’s less offense with Edvinsson than a lot of people want to believe, but this kid should still be a stud, overall. I love his defensive potential.

I need to see replays of whatever happened early with Raymond/Larkin. The UC didn’t show a replay in-house, so I’m guessing Chicago did some cheap shit before the Larkin penalty. If it was a knee on knee attempt against Raymond, and Larkin went after the guy in response, then… high or not, DGAF, good on Larkin. Hurt the dude back. That’s the only way you deter that crap since the league doesn’t do anything about it.
