Ugh d prospects for us blew the assignment in front of the net and his partner was beaten behind the net…. Not good….

and stromwell Just made wrong play with no backup behind him to turn over and allow transition the other way…. Gotta just throw it deep or pass that away instead of trying to deke two guys there….

some good video review material for tomorrow…. Can’t be perfect in the first pointless game right? :)

When you have 3 assists in a game and show a bomb from the point, it helps your case in a competition for playing time and to lock down one of the 3 open spots on the defense, be it the 3rd pair or the extra d man…. With Gardiner not being healthy and going on LTIR, the cap crunch pressure is off and we can likely run with a full 23 man roster not try to do it with just 20 only and hope to rush someone up in an injury situation…. I wouldn’t be surprised if we carry 8 dmen if Chat has better followip games as preseason goes along and we are afraid of losing him to waivers….. or we play games with injuries to try to keep him on a injury emergency and then try to send back without having to expose him to waivers…. But Cog Man likely has first blood in the competition… assuming in all this that de Haan shows enough that he can still play and Brindy demands he get a contract so that it really is 4 guys competing for the 3 spots of 5/6/7 dmen with de Haan, Bear, Cog Man and Chatfield…

Stromwell shot was verrrrry nice…. He had typical type of performance showing he doesn’t know our system instinctively yet and looked like a newer player not a returning player trying to shake off the rust…. Made a couple obvious plays that shows he wasn’t as defensively aware as Brindy will want…. But if he can limit that and figure how to get himself positioned right to take advantage of his shot, that ability might get him some playing time if we struggle for offense out of some others….

overall it was an expected outcome and we didn’t make their prospect goalie look like an all star by dominating play yet never beating the goalie…. All our regular dudes did pretty well, it was a very good first impression for stats on Jordan’s line and looks like he could play up if needed…. KK had his moments and if he continues to accumulate points while being able to use his bigger frame to play responsibly and help open things for Svech, that could bode very well for us this year….

curious to see what we will do for a fourth line if others play well in the next game…… we have way more players that can play than we have spots in the lineup!

gosh I looooooooooove having so many options that we aren’t hoping several prospects show enough that we play them on the big club before they are ready, just to fill out the roster…. There is some stiff competition to make this team and we have players taking less or choosing us because we are expected to win and go far…. Such a great feeling to have….

Very much the preseason and very much against a B squad we should have handled but still a lot of good takeaways there.

KK doesn't look out of place on the 2nd line. Him and Svech could do some real damage together this year. Speaking of which, Svech looked more willing to get physical, hopefully that's a point of emphasis this year. Coghlan was getting an extended look at PP QB, have to figure hes very much in the running for 3rd pair RHD, if not the frontrunner.
