Have you ever played hockey?

There are so many unwritten rules and codes that you seem to not know exist

Running up a score in a preseason game with a stacked line up vs an AHL line up is one of them. Arniel wouldn't have even had to tell those guys to take the foot off the gas. They would have known

Had they kept going hard at them, one of our star players would be injured right now and justifiably so

Yeah no point to embaress and and manufacture tension in a nothing game.

No one is upset, just an observation about a game of preseason hockey.:dunno:
And that is what it was. The home team dressed better players. They played the game and no one got hurt. That is preseason hockey. Too bad us ST holders have to pay well north of $100 even if we don’t attend because we know exact how it will play out.

That's pretty much his game - he's an adventure in his own end
I loved those “Choose your own adventure” books. Maybe also Pionk.

Interesting post game comments from Arniel.

Lambert is getting another look on Friday.

Sounds like Arniel is going to give Kupari the start on Friday too, he seems to want him in that 4C spot, over Gustafsson.

Didn't realize that Arniel was a coach of Pionk's in New York too. Says he is a real popular player in the room. If not on HF.

Somebody tried to get him to bite on Ehlers-Scheif-Vilardi, but he wouldn't.
where can I watch the post game comments from Arniel?

I only watched the first 2 periods but getting outshot 2-1 in the 3rd against down horrendous AHL Oilers lineup seems less than ideal (regardless of score effects).
Cut and paste that again without answering or addressing my post please

Stop pretending to even have a superficial understanding of a game you've obviously never played. Just sit back and watch and enjoy (or not)

That's good coaching and management ... play your bottom 6 and rookies against a fully dressed team.
It would be nice if the opposing teams did that to the Jets ... this way the cuts would be easy to make for the Jets.
The Jets will return the favour to Minny in their next game. It is preseason and all teams know the dance. The games only really matter for the couple players on the bubble. For everyone else it is about getting your skating legs and avoiding injury.

So a great imitation of your posts then?

What haven't I addressed?

The reason they outshot us in the third is because the boys knew something that you don't know - showing anyone up is bad form. They took their foot off the gas..that's not "score effects". It's what hockey players do. No fly-bys after goals, no trotting out PP units...

You don't have a goddamn clue

Truthfully, I wasn't paying attention to too much of the game. There wasn't much to be gleaned from playing the Bakersfield Condors. Glad that Kahkonen had a bounce back game after the albatross he suffered last time. Liked the mobility of the new PP scheme. We'll see if it holds. If this is how Lambo plays against an AHL team with NHL talent, it might be time to give him a long look.

Reporter: "Mark, how did you tear your ACL?"

Schiefele: "Well, we were up 5 in the third in a preseason game but I noticed we were getting outshot 2-1 by a bad team in the period so I had to put some extra effort in so that no fans who have never played a game of hockey in their life would get alarmed and I lost an edge finishing a check on a guy who will probably play in the ECHL this year"

My guess is Brad gets a game with Cole as he's played with the other two to-date and I doubt Fly and Name will play.

Interesting about Kupari. But I think Arniel said he wanted more speed and that is one aspect he has in spades.
.
When it comes time for actual NHL games, I wonder if there is any concern with Lambert (1/4) and Namestnikov (0/2) going cold on the draw. Luckily they were all offensive zone draws. Scheif was a monster in his first game, and that's got to be a positive, in his game, even though it was against 4th line-AHL centers.

Don't think Ehlers will take the trip and Arniel has said he wants to get both Lambert and Namestnikov looks between the him and Perfetti , so that's likely the last two games. I like that it is a genuine battle, and it may come down to Namestnikov having good chemistry with Ehlers, as we saw on the 1st goal. But the more Lambert performs in that role, and succeeds, it makes the decisions tougher, especially if Brad is contributing on the PP. I wonder though if it is all or nothing, because losing the 2C, maybe you'd still want to keep him on the 4th line with Kupari, more speed, and a guy like Iafallo or Barron, if he's still putting up special teams points.

Really hard to say. Imo he's going to need to play better to win a spot but he's likely going to get into atleast two of the last three games. He definitely could make things interesting if he can get some confidence and start playing his game 5 on 5. Yeah if he's good on the PP then maybe you keep him around on the 4th line.

But yes the faceoffs are an issue which is why I've never been a big fan of Name at center. You know what you are getting with him. But a young player who has the potential to get better with more reps is more appealing to me.

You know, you're right. They shouldn't be made to wear those things in the first place. The same for helmets - and don't get me started on goalie masks. :naughty:
If some idiot wants to take a slapshot to the face, who am I to say no?

Weird that a grown man is mandated to wear a helmet while he plays hockey but he can leave the rink and smoke 3 packs a day

Miller seems to be the surprise of the preseason so far. I wonder if he might just be a better dmen then I thought. Hard to put much into Preseason but he has size, a good shot, and a nice breakout pass. Could be a real nice add.

I tend not to rate the players with spots, they are doing what they feel they need to do to gwt their hands and legs ready to go. It's why you are seeing way more dippsy doodles from the skill guys.
There should be some genuine improvement for that 2nd PP if Miller sticks on the point. Opens more options. Pionk looks more comfortable on his strong side too. Looks like that could be another battle line between Namestnikov and Lambert, when Perfetti gets into the lineup.

Well that was one of the best played and best executed pre-season game I’ve ever seen.
What a clinic as the whole team was in mid season form.
Especially impressed with Anderson Dolan. He fits really well on that third line.
Ehlers and Lambert together I could get used to watching all year!
What a fun game to watch, even if they were playing scrubs.

OK, sure. No seat belts in cars until smoking is completely prohibited.

Sorry, but I think your position here is ridiculous.
