So guys who weren't in the scrimmage yesterday will play tonight. Maybe some who did play yesterday will play today, particularly those who are fighting for spots or contracts.

These are the players who weren't there yesterday:

D: Guhle, Barron, Mailloux, Reinbacher, Harris, Xhekaj, Demin (invite), Laaouan (AHL deal) & Ortiz (AHL deal).

F: Anderson, Slafkovsky, Newhook, Roy, Simoneau, Pezzetta, Beck, Farrell, Ylonen, Legare, Stephens, Condotta, Dufort (invite), Novak (AHL deal), Voyer (AHL deal), Yaremko (AHL deal)

G: Montembeault, Dobes & Vrbetic

In Reinbacher's case, if we're to go by what Gorton said at the golf tournament, maybe he'll get a preseason game in and most likely sent back to Kloten. So maybe he'll play tonight and after the game, they loan him back to his European team.
Thanks Adam! Just for consistency, I believe Vrbetic is not signed by the Habs. In fact, he may not even have an AHL deal, is that correct? I think he may be a try-out.

We are getting a look at our D future tonight minus Hutson.

I fully expect in two years time, our 3 D pairs to be made up of Guhle, Barron, Mailloux, Hutson, Xhekaj, Reinbacher or Harris. Engstrom could be our 7th if we package Harris in the future. Can't wait to see what the boys do tonight!
I'd be surprised if both of Matheson and Savard are let go within as early as two years time.

Newhook's line stays together. Lets see how they do.

Guhle - Reinbacher

COuld be looking as soon as next season at 25-30 mins a night right there.

I wonder who is going to play defence on Newhook's line. Interesting line for sure though. Thought they'd use Newhook on the wing, with his speed and shot. Will be interesting to follow in the next 2 weeks.

Oh nice, I'm genuinely curious about this lineup.

Any of those D pairings and the 3rd line could be part of the 2025 NHL starting lineup.

Interesting that they placed Newhook at center.
Newhook has only played center so far in camp. And that line has been together for every single scrimmage and practice. THey have not broken them up.

Ok!
Pumped for the 1st line
Pumped for that 3rd line that should be 2nd lol

And the D! My god the D
Not the pairings I would of done but at least it's the right 6 guys

You would think Guhle and Barron but we can't complain having the 5th Ov pick front and center lol
Harris could help Mailloux a bit even if I wished it was Arber there
And Xhekaj-Barron in the end could be fun to see too

Oh boy, those forwards are young. Dont expect much cohesion tonight. Anderson babysitting I guess?

Both the forwards and the defense is very young. The oldest forward is Anderson at 29 years old, then it falls to 26. The oldest defenceman is 23.

This guy is ready to go!:laugh:

Savard is as good as gone. If the young kids continue their development curve, someone will have to go. It could be one of them (Mailloux or Barron as an example) or it could be Matheson. I love Matheson, but he might net us the best return. The young guys have better contract status' as we retain a ton of control over them for a while still.

It is a good spot to be in.
