3. Finally, you look at your top two centers: 37 years old and 36 years old, one of whom didn't even play in the league last season. They're fantastic players, but they are older and I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a decline from either of them, if not both of them.
..I don't think Boston is in a playoff spot by American Thanksgiving, so can they be an exception? Personally, with the age of their top 6 centers and injuries to key players, I don't think they will be an exception to that rule, and won't be able to catch the rest of the pack.
Of course I could easily be wrong, this is just a prediction and just for fun, so don't let it bother you too much.
Are you looking for a "gotcha" moment? I actually like how I worded my post you quoted. I literally finished the post with saying I could be wrong lmao. It's a predictions thread. The very definition of this is "for fun".

Talk about insecurity.

Many Bruin's fans thought they would get off to a rough start (including me who is an optimist).

I don't know how the season will end up, but I am enjoying the ride.
1. Bruins exaggerated their injury issues, and most people made predictions based on Marchand + McAvoy being out way longer than they ended up
2. Jake Debrusk kind of came out of nowhere for a big season, love the player but he's better than people expected he'd be at this point
3. The goaltending is way ahead of what anyone could've possibly imagined, basically the best in the league
4. Bergeron and Krejci drink from the fountain of endless youth, it's very fun to see

I agree with 2,3 and 4. Marchand had double hip surgery and did not exaggerate that. He worked his ass off to get back.

My problem with Bruins to much passing and cycling - dump the puck and crush the defenseman
1 minute of offensive zone control second period against Sharks and no shots - screw the Harlem Globetrotter shit. SHOOT THE PUCK!!!!!

Are you kidding me. It's a total "Gotcha"moment and any denying it is your own insecurity.

Perhaps the thread title should be called "I could be wrong - predict Altantic Standings" or every poster should be ending with "I could be wrong".

Swallow your pride and move on...The real Lennon would.

LMAO you went back 5 months to cherry-pick predictions, took it way too personally, and are actually trying to say it's not about insecurity

Cherry pick? You were quite vocal about them not making it
No I wasn't:

Thanks for the reply, great post. Honestly, last I heard was Marchand was out until December, so now hearing it was possible he's back in October would make a MASSIVE difference - same story with McAvoy. I guess my main point was that the first few months of the season are so critical, so a lot definitely depends on when these crucial players come back, and how impactful they can be right away.

I agree with respect to the strength on the wings for the Bruins. I think if they start the season with Zacha on the first line LW with Bergeron and Pasta, it could actually be a pretty dangerous line. Always had a soft spot for Zacha, and I prefer him on the wing.

Also, I do like the Ullmark/Swayman pairing in nets. I'm just so skeptical of the Bruins being able to make up for the injuries to key players if they don't come back sooner than December. Lindholm will absolutely be an X-factor here. And as you point out, the Bruins have a history of strong team defense, along with a recent history of regular season success, so if things fall right for them, they could be top 3 in the division once again.

My perspective was definitely a negative one (assuming Marchand and McAvoy were out until December) but if that's not the case, I would revise my predictions a lot.

IDK if I'd say DeBrusk came out of nowhere. Maybe for outside fans, but DeBrusk was playing like this the for a good chunk of last year. When the calendar flipped to 2022 a switch flipped in DeBrusk and in 52gp he had 20g/14a. This would have been good for 32g/22a over 82gp. This season he's playing at a 36g/32a for 82gp. Really the biggest uptick from those 52 games to this year was in the assist, which you'll pickup playing with Marchand & Bergeron.

Who cares who said what months ago. None of us can predict the future.
If none of us can predict the future, then why do some posters make statements about what is going to happen in the upcoming season with such certainty?

For example, I was called names for saying I thought the Sabres would be a bubble playoff team and maybe sneak into a wildcard spot by some Panthers fans. I see nothing wrong with dunking on those kinds of posters.

(with that said, the Sabres have plenty of time to backslide)

Well said! But I could be wrong...

Yeah, these are purely for fun and I thought that was obvious.

I love DeBrusk, didn't realize he finished his season so well last year. I nabbed him in fantasy and have been very excited about it, except for his injury. Curious how he does next year if the Bruins lose a lot of key pieces.

I'd expect Bergeron back a minimum, so DeBrusk should still be with Marchand & Bergeron next year. DeBrusk will also be (pending an extension) in a contract year where he'll end as a UFA. Next year could likely be DeBrusk best season of his career.

Debrusk's success is 100% tied to the coaching change. He and Cassidy did not mesh at all the last couple years, leading to the trade request last year. Sweeney took stock of everything in the room (apparently it wasn't just Debrusk who had an issue with him) and chose the players over the coach, which ended up as the absolute right decision in retrospect. Monty has been a breath of fresh air and revitalized Debrusk's career. Doubt Krejci would've come back if Cassidy were still here too.

Debrusk started to turn the corner under Cassidy last season. It's not just Monty. He finally started to get his shit together and things are clicking. He started working harder than ever and he started to play well with Bergeron and Marchand.

Wait until he sees the panthers cap space for next season…

I guess you haven't see the Panthers injury issues either.

Barkov, Lundell, and Ekblad have all missed time. That doesn't even include Duclair who hasn't played yet this season. It's funny you always have excuses for the Senators, but don't apply those same excuses for the teams you compare them to.

Had a chance to look at the cap space yet?

Panthers have 14 players signed and 12 million of space.

Players due a substantial raise?
None

Senators

12 players signed 16 million in cap space

Players due raises
DeBrincat
Pinto
(New Starting Goalie)

good luck with that extra 4 million in cap space
Too easy...Let me guess you think FLD will build the rest of their fringe playoff team through FA ??
