I don't know how Poile hasn't fired him, especially with Trotz sitting there doing nothing. Maybe you have but you at least pick up the phone and make that call and if he is on board you can Hynes. This isn't going to get better, Hynes actually believe this is a winning system.

He made the playoffs in NJ on the back of an incredible season by Taylor Hall. He's barely made into the playoffs here on the back of Forsberg, Duchene, and Josi having career years. David Poile has watched more hockey than probably most of this board put together. There is no way in heck he isn't seeing exactly what we are.
Counting on Trotz returning is a pipe dream. It could happen but unlikely at this point of this season given his statements and actions in the off season.

Your second paragraph is what really makes me laugh here. When players don't score, these boards put that squarely on Hynes yet when players do perform, Hynes doesn't factor in at all. The reality is that there is shared blame and credit, not what HF likes to portray. All Hynes can do is line combos and time management so the blender is on Hynes. Players are responsible for executing ... the one too many or off target passes, shots into shinpads, missed assignments are on the players.

The HERD was a legit scoring line last season with Jeannot netting 17 goals 5on5 (t-51st among NHL forwards), Trenin with 13 (t-122nd) ... both of whom are on pace for about 50% of last season's 5on5 goal production. Duchene is on pace for under 15% of his 5on5 goal production last season. If Hynes is to blame for this year's numbers where is his credit for last season?

Dude, Roman Josi and Ryan McDonagh have been paired together for 126 minutes and allowed 0 (zero) goals against. Are we watching different games?
Facts stopped mattering here years ago.

At this point I’m starting wonder why Duchene’s ice time hasn’t been drastically reduced but then I wonder who on this roster would be able to take his spot…..

All you can do is bring up a young guy to give you some options but we know Hynes won't play them unless he has no other choice so :dunno:

Besides Torts I have a hard time thinking of a coach that would actually scratch Duchene even with his stats this season. I question if GNC has a pill that could get him to finish ... based on the constant commercials, they should. Does anyone have Frank Thomas's digits?

The PP is back to Jekyll and Hyde. Started the season 1 for 26 and entered tonight on an 0 for 18 streak. Between that was 14 for 58. 15 for 102 for the season before tonight's puck drop ... with three shorties allowed.

Quite the low IQ group Poile has put together. Add to that a lacking coaching staff and you get the worst team we’ve seen in a long time, at least in my opinion.

If this team is going to address the PP problems it has to seriously re-look PP1. At this point I would look at Forsberg, Johansen, Niederreiter, Josi with the tough question of two or one defender on the unit. (Gross or Duchene or Granlund). Put the top scorers together in an effort to get it going again like it was for games 7 through 23 where the team racked up 14 PP goals ... not the 1 PP goal in the first 6 games, none in the last 6 games (and counting).

That leaves the younger crowd as the PP2 forwards ... Parssinen, Jeannnot, Glass as key players there.

It can't do much worse.

Glass is starting to play really nice honestly . It’s hasnt developed on the score sheet but it should if he continues this current play and builds off of it.

Either way let’s burn this season. Get a legit pick and move forward

checked standings and Mynhldraft (which hasnt been updated since last monday)

NHL overall standings have us at 26th in the league with some games at hand. After our imminent loss to the Oilers this monday we have a real shot to drop to 28th or even 29th overall by early next week which puts us in great position for a top 5 pick

maybe we can land Brandon Yager at the draft

What were the odds for StL in January 2019 when they were in last? That isn't to say this Preds team is postured to win a Cup but looking at lottery odds for any team at this point of the season is just as baseless.
The Blues did go from worst to Stanley Cup winners in less than a season. The exception that proves the rule.

They did fire their coach and had a coach in-house who better understood the roster and systems and was familiar with the players and had a plan. Do we?

They also caught lightning in a bottle with the switch to Binnington. He played outstanding in goal and fixing the defense in front of him helped him. I think our problem looks like the pendulum swung the other way though. We have good goaltending and play a collapsing defense that can keep the score depressed in general. But that comes at the expense of scoring, and if you can't score you can't win. Maybe there is someone we can call up to inject instant offense and sit some of the defensive forwards and free up some of the others? :dunno:

The owners are fiddling while Smashville burns…

I am still perplexed by the complete frontal lobotomy the guys seem to have had. These are not dumb players, they got this far after all. They are being paid a lot of money to play a game. Why are they struggling with fundamentals? Things that have been drilled into them from mites on up, stick to stick passing, moving your feet, putting shots on net when you have an open lane, getting to the net for a rebound, taking away time and space from incoming forwards etc. 🙄 Are they lazy, overconfident in their abilities, have no confidence? Questions that I want some kind of answer to.

country club mentality and an apathetic city when it comes to dialing up the heat

I bet if Troubadour GC threatened their memberships we might see more jam from Johansen and Duchene

Team is a dumpster fire. 4 games this week, 5 goals scored. 3 in one game. Lost in OT twice after our goalie gave up 1 goal in 120 minutes of regulation time.

I got a late start to watching the game and wondered if Johansen would still be playing with pluggers. Sure enough he gets moved up and Granlund takes his spot. I'm like, the team is not scoring so let's put some of our better players with crappy players to increase scoring?

Why not put Granlund with Nino and Glass instead of having Sissons out there? Put your best 6 forwards on two lines and see what happens. The new HERD with Parssinen seems to be fine. Roll with that. Also, if you're down one goal with 10 minutes to go, why are you still rolling out your fourth line that is the offensive black hole? Play your best freaking players.

Half asleep in the third I noticed I hadn't seen Trenin or Johansen much. Not sure what Trenin did to get the reduced time or I was truly in and out of sleep but he's busting his tail out there. Johansen I get because of the stupid penalty he took on Makar.

I have no idea what this ownership group is thinking or why they are so patient in regards to making decisions. As I said in another post, maybe they're happy with just making the playoffs. If that's the case, then something still needs to be done because at this rate, we ain't making them.

It's getting to the point that I question why I even watch this and I guess being a fan of the team is, how are they going to disappoint me today.

Sissons, Trenin, and Mr. Perfect had the least TOI.

Duchene had nearly the same TOI as Ekholm and Fabbro.

The Boro

In this article from June of 2022 Herb Fritch clearly states the ownership’s goals for the team. “Field a competitive team, be financially stable and contribute to the community”. Winning it all is “hopeful but not a goal.

He also states the Sean Henry and David Poile are the ones that know the business and that the owners are just stewards of the organization. The current ownership group are very successful business people obviously because they’re all very wealthy but they are not hockey people, they rely on Poile and Henry to be their hockey people.

Henry has complete faith in Poile based off of Poile’s contract. I don’t expect anything to change with the GM as long as Henry is still the CEO of the Preds. The team will continue to be constructed to be “competitive, financially stable and contribute to the community” as long as Poile is the GM because that’s the edict he is operating under.

I don’t expect anything to change with this organization until Bill Haslam takes over as majority owner and governor of the organization. At that point we will find out what the new goals for the organization are.
