yeah, other bad teams.

We also fail to get open in scoring areas. Chytil did today, but that was the one off. We are poor at creating passing lanes/shooting lanes. Legs stop moving

I feel like it's rudimentary hockey but this team really struggles with it
This is why I feel that a coaching change wouldn't be a bad thing. This team should be scoring more than 3 GPG.

I gotta say, been watching the Rangers for a long time and this team is the most unlucky of any of the Ranger team I’ve ever watched. Just snakebiten.
Absolutely. They have zero confidence right now. I thought the Detroit gamer would have helped them out but, alas, they reverted back to their unhappy place.

2020 hf: "Chytil a bust at 20"

I omitted that because I learned my lesson with that one. I certainly have posts from shit man, middle of last year on 'Chytil-hate'. I wanted him to be part of our Dubois ticket but now I'm all on that Chytil train. The three of them have already proven it in the PO's and drove the whole team in some crucial games, with just clutch as f*ck moments.

I'm still jazzed on the future and I want to see how this team looks in 25 games. Teams will regress and we just need to get rolling here - soon.

Just look at what Kirby Dach is doing in Montreal right now

If the usage and level of responsibility changes, the confidence can too
This is my one complaint with GG. When the vets aren't getting it done he refuses to shake things up significantly. I understand giving your vets more rope, but I think we're at the point when The Kid Line needs to get some PP starts. At the least it will make the team less predictable.

I'm just starting to not see it. You can't tell me what he does well without yelling his age or referring to numbers, because he doesn't do anything well.

You should be able to describe players using their standout skills.

Even middling players have things they're good at.

I haven't thrown in the towel on him whatsoever, but I agree with this.

I think not putting him (and other kids of ours) in certain situations of responsibility is making it even worse.

Coaches get fired when teams quit on them. They just lost 2-1 outshooting a team 35-18 on the road. It’s not the coach. These guys just don’t finish. Need to flip Mika and Panarin on the pp just to change it up
Mika on the right board is just a bad idea. His bread and butter is the one timer but bc panarin won't offer a shooting threat on the right everyone just collapses on Mike just like the bolts did in the playoffs. You don't create a different look by taking fixure type players out of their best place. The caps won't put ovi on the rw wall of a pp just to change the look, and Mika and his shot should be treated the same here bc he isn't a player that will create his own shot on the halfwall. Put kakko on the wall, move panarin to the bumper spot and see what we have. Panarin was fine in the middle when Strome worked the right wall before and his lack of shooting threat has everyone collapsing on the left side of the ice on zib

I would say I’m more frustrated than angry. I still think this is a good team, that has run into some poor luck.

You would think at some point they will have a nice ten game stretch, don’t think anyone should be throwing in the towel so early.

Don’t panic looking at the standings either, you will drive yourself nuts.

Will say though, there’s no reason to be carrying 14 forwards, especially if he wants to do anything at the deadline.

No one is claiming Reaves, just do it.

The analytics look great for this team. Unfortunately they stink in real life. I prefer last years squad and their “unsustainable” style

Hopefully the positively regress going forward, but there’s no guarantee they will. They’ve already left an insane amount of points on the table. I’m an optimist, but it’s not good right now

I echo the sentiment that Lafreniere kind of just isn't good at anything. I don't know where all the points in junior came from, I'm not a seer or a shaman. At this level, he has no skills.

Chytil and Kakko are becoming good players. Not "getting there" or doing things and stuff, they're *good* players and they're leaving Lafreniere behind.

They're good at things. Chytil has very good speed, can protect the puck, and it's becoming an efficient finisher. Kakko has ELITE hands and could hold onto the puck in a tornado in space.

What does Lafreniere do well? He has a high-end nose for the net, that's about it, and his lack of speed is going to prevent even that skill from reaching full fruition.

He's starting to look like a "right situation" junior player that got hyped on point watching. It kind of is what it is. It's the pick the Rangers had to make in that spot.

We were saying the same thing about Chytil & Kakko as recently as this summer. Putting the microscope on Lafreniere right now is a little much

It seems like Gallant has lost the room. We will most likely have a bad season if we don't change him. I don't think we'll fire him, not until it's way too late.

His “hockey sense” was always supposed to be miles ahead of the competition.

But if your major skill is your brain, and you get stuck playing non-confident, non-assertive hockey, you’re basically neutered.

I’m sure if he was given the same opportunity as someone like Dach right now, he’d also be a PPG player.

We’re just not allowing the kids to develop like top draft picks develop. You need to give them all the responsibility and belief in the world, and let them figure it out.
Yep. And some real PP minutes.

If you force Laf onto PP1 for the rest of the season and let him grow confidence offensively with time and space, I have absolutely no doubt he’d develop into a 60+ point player.

But should the Rangers be willing to do that? I’m not sure. This is where rebuilding and trying to win now are at odds. The kids can’t actually develop quickly unless you let them. But that might mean someone like Chris Kreider gets his feelings hurt or (gasp) not making the playoffs this year.

It’s certainly the correct long term move.
Yep.

But it won't happen.

Chytil would be nice as well. He's got a good shot. One of few players who can one-time it.

How do you expect them to be impact players without growing offensive confidence on the power play? That’s literally where you get these young talented kids to show their ability with a little extra time and space.

It’s the formula every single other team with top offensive talent they drafted used.

But we think we can just stick them on the 3rd line with other young players and it’s going to figure itself out.
I agree with you 100%.

I can’t believe people think putting the kids on the power play over Fox/Kreider/Mika/Bread is the answer. It defies logic.

The solution to the offense problems are the team actually needs to f***ing shoot the puck. It’s been a major problem for years. The vets, the kids, the defense. No one wants to score a goal that doesn’t look pretty. We all know it.

That's what gets me. He's chippy. That's about the only good thing I can say about him. I don't see #1 overall level skill at the NHL level.

I'm taking Montreal's 2023 1st and running away laughing if it's on the table.

I know we like to say that the Rangers don't develop their talent but he's by far third after Chytil and Kakko

So is it a changing of the guard....us,caps,lightning and the Flopper....I don't think so..the rut is not even over.....those out of playoffs have not even begun to fight ....it early but getting late....talk to me in 6 weeks

So nashville has a 7th round pick better than laf?
Rough game
PP and top 6 were terrible
4th line getting way too many mins in the 3rd period
Kid line scores but even they couldn't get their possession game going consistently and i blame ice time for that
Chytil was by far the best player and didnt sniff a second in the final mins
GG really does suck
He's too in love with the vets
When did rangers last have a coach that wasn't in love with the vets?

Both players have had plenty of time in the top six or even the top three this season and have minimal production to show for it. They aren't good
True to a certain degree. But having them on the PP (getting actual PP minutes) could be extremely good for their confidence. Maybe they just need a little shove in the right direction?

Baby Jagr is finding the shooting position and really keeps it simple... locked and loaded

He's got a very underrated shot and a pretty good one-timer. good accuracy on it. I think he'd score a lot of goals on the PP if we used him as a triggerman on the 2nd pairing over Trouba,
