Yeah maybe but Donskoi was too good already for liiga.
And he's mature but Lehkonen is still bit raw.

That how Donskoi cracked for Sharks NHL roster without any single game in AHL.
Was something what we haven't seen before there's no many 23 yrs old player who took his spot in NHL team for his first season in north america.

And that's the difference between Lehkonen and Donskoi.
Time will show can Lehkonen made same but we'll see that later perhaps next autumn.

Yeah, but I meant in like 3-4 years Lehkonen has a chance to do that. Not in the near future unless he suddenly gets a revelation like Donskoi got with the assistance of Marjamäki.

Kapanen has underperformed in international play I agree, but making a conclusion that he was exactly as bad as you expected when you didn't watch the game makes no sense.

You should look his performances in U18 WJC's in Lappeenranta few year ago.
Maybe then you'll see how selfish he can be.

Yes Kapanen is promising prospect and he's unperformed international plays.
But he should realize that he can't do everything by himself.

Kapanen has a lot skill and he can score.
But too often when he can't score he's puckhodger who gets his linemates frustrated.

When Kasperi Kapanen hasn't interested to play his team.
He'll skate outside of the game stiff as a ramrod and he don't care piece of **** about it.

Also he can be real Primadonna type who don't care team-game and he cause headaches and migraines for coaching staff.

Lehkonen is three years younger than Donskoi too, so he has plenty of time to get where Donskoi is now.

Indeed.

I hope that we are able to see tomorrow's game, else our ice hockey federation better always schedule a practice game against Canada each year so we get to see more games :P.

Apparently Kapanen really was surfing there. Really didn't want to play. But I guess it wasn't surprise in a pre-tournament game. If he makes the team, I hope he shows why he is picked.

And about having Christmas stress, maybe.

Please cut Kapanen. Guy is toxic for our teams, always manages to **** things up.

I'm like 99.9 % certain he is a Bust, plays too individual I wasn't even excited when he joined the team.

I'm doubted Kapanen's potential since U18 WJC's in Lappeenranta 2014.
Kapanen was Finland's captain there and I still have nightmares for that fiasco.

Rauli Urama is lousiest head coach what Finland has ever had in U18 national junior team.
And Kapanen is lousiest captain what Finland ever had in U18's.
This is why I take the opinions of Finnish posters on HF with a grain of salt.

It's been 1 preliminary game and some are calling Kapanen a bust

A 19 year old whose on pace for nearly 30 goals in the AHL is apparently a bust.

If you don't ice your 5 best players, who are expected to be leaders on the team can you expect a great show?
It's a completely different team then.
A friend who was in the game told me the following...

- Hintz looked good, but couldn't get any help from his linemates.

- Kapanen was bad, but it's too early to say whether it's an attitude issue or him simply not being on the same page with his linemates.

- As an unit, Saarela-Nättinen-Repo were involved in both good and bad. They were on the ice for some of the Swiss goals, but were consistently making things happen in the offensive end as well.

- The bottom-two units played sound defense, but were simply not able to make much happen in the offensive end.

So, what people need to realize is that the team tonight was VERY far from the final one. What's gonna happen between today and 26th is that we remove a bunch of grinders, we add Laine, Aho and Puljujärvi - an entire unit of heavy hitters, we add a beast called Mikko Rantanen... AND we give Kapanen a game or two to get his act together.

And if they still play bad... THEN it's time to grease the rope.

AHL isn't national junior team.
Many Finnish fans thought how's possible Kapanen always fails or under-perform national team jersey this is not only my opinion.

how does 5 goals = on pace for 30?

Kapanen's success rate is the NT jersey is actually closer to 50-50.

U16 Olympic tournament - a major success for him.
U18 WC in 2013 - another success. Seven games, 5+3.
U20 WC in 2014 - did not play due to injury.
U18 WC in 2014 - played like crap. But the entire team played like crap, thanks to Urama.
U20 WC in 2015 - played like crap. But the entire team played like crap, thanks to Jortikka.

Then there are a bunch of other U18 and U20 NT games, where he's been about 0.5PPG player. So at worst, you could say he's been a so-so performer in the national team so far. Perhaps not the solid star people have expected him to be, but by no means not earning his bread either.

But by all means, don't let the facts get in the way of juicy hearsay and loose perstuntuma...

17gp.

He's on pace for 22g / 22a for 44p in a 76 game season. He's had injuries and illnesses for two different stretches of time. Second half should be a better indicator of his AHL ability.

You have stated now multiple times how you clearly don't think too highly of Kapanen. We've all heard you so you can stop it now.

Kapanen has posted good numbers in AHL. You can't do that, if you aren't good player for WJC. That's why I'm not worried about him.

The loss will just teach them to be humble and that they have to earn every point in the tournament.

Also, I think it would be reasonable to not only bash our guys, but to perhaps agree that Switzerland might actually have been a solid opponent.

saarelas goal was quite interesting. i hope theres video of it somewhere as they didnt replay it on screen.

swiss play was entertaining to watch. they had some quick guys and played boldly as a team. finnish play was just chaotic, especially defense - excluding the young pair which felt most solid atleast in my groups biased eyes.

juolevi made couple nice passes.
.. i see the annual kapanen bashing is already well on its way. maybe wait for a few more games to see if he and whatever line he will be playing find their game?

This. Especially funny talking about Kapanen being a disappointment when everybody are EXPECTING him to disappoint. How is meeting expectations a disappointment?

Suisse is gradually getting there. A force to be recognized in these frolics.

Difficult times ahead, while the 96- and 97-age-group was probably the best Switzerland ever had, the 98 and 99-ers seem to be a lot weaker. Nico Hischier is the only one to watch.

Sounds like Finland will be banishing Kapanen to some cold northern place after this tournament - like the Russian's used to do with players and Siberia.

However, that place is likely Canada. And closer to the NHL, where he will thrive as a everyday professional. Who is the one screwing the other over really? He will be like our Finnish Batman.
