I'm doubted Kapanen's potential since U18 WJC's in Lappeenranta 2014.

I've always had little doubts about Kapanen and Artturi Lehkonen becoming NHL players. Both Kalpa juniors with famous fathers. Feels like they got everything too easily or something.

Kalapudas 1+1 points. Gave Jalonen something to think about. I know some Finns here have said that there aren't enough center positions for Kalapudas or the right role for him.

4-3, panic cancelled?

Oh, no goal, 4-2 it is. So, everything's gone. :sarcasm:

Double no, it's a goal. WOOOOO! Finland going for gold confirmed.

I thought Hintz was the captain?

I don't think anything is confirmed?

And would be atleast for me hard to understand anyone else than Rants, the type of player he is and the year he's been having.

Well, he is from Turku, I reckon. That's for one I guess, a reason not to be the C.

Kapenen just been okay in the AHL so far this year. We're hoping he pulls through but I'm not entirely shocked to hear he didn't play great.

He's also battled some injury and illness, hasn't really had the cleanest slate. But still, a 19 year old that is on pace for 24 goals and 48 points in the AHL is pretty good development, especially when he's committed defensively.

I also believe people should not put much stock into these preliminary games.

Disappointment in Koivus'?

No way. Especialy Saku was the man. But it is what it is. You cannot deny it wouldn't have some weight when weighting this question. Turku people are their own breed. You cannot even understand their "Finnish" sometimes.

While Tamperre - those guys are just open, hilarious and funny guys.

I didn't see the game. Just twitter comments and SJL tilastopalvelu.

I guess relying on some strong twitter sources is fine when the game is not on TV, but putting Kapanen out at this point is argument that needs video evidence!

Well thank you

Our last Captains just have been Koivus in the mens tournaments so I hope they hanlde the situation well and do not ..... it up
Rants is a leader and our best player.

Hopefully they keep the A well away from Kapanen.

I agree Lehkonen and Kapanen are clearly got everything too easily.
Lehkonen has done really good in Frölunda SHL team but the way in Montreal's NHL roster is still really long.

Kapanen has struggled with injuries and some illness this season.
If he can reach his full potential in AHL he can be NHL player someday.

But it means that he really pans out and plays really strong tournament in world juniors.
This is his last chance and if he can't use this he'll be next Jesse Niinimäki type player who's solid rotation player in FEL but not in NHL.
Or other professional leagues in Europe.

Kalapudas might be solid 4th line center / winger and also he has played with Pulju and Aho.
So there's a chance Kärppä line is back together if it's necessarily.

Yep. He's trying to make it the Donskoi way. Could see it happening or not. I say 50% chance.

Yeah. I hope for the Kärppä line as well. Hopefully Kalapudas plays again tomorrow and we can see that line be impressive and it's a lock then.

I know they won't do it, but they should. Send Kapanen home. That guy is poison. No good can come from always giving a change to the egotistical, underperforming trick clown. He does not deserve to take a roster spot from someone who actually commits to a team game and delivers. Kalapudas, for example, is a variation-bringing piece to a puzzle whereas Kasperi Kapanen is a pigeon that eats a couple of pieces, knocks some apart and defecates on the rest.

PS. No, I did not see the game, but do I really need to, considering that everything was exactly as expected of Kapanen?

Okay, lol.

Sounds like you just have a vendetta against the kid.

It's a preliminary game...and he got an assist to boot.

Still it is and will be Kaps who will be playing in the NHL one of these days, in pretty near future; while I cannot see Artturi "slim fit" Lehkonen ever being able to make it, no matter the "intangilbles" or "heart". The kid is a feather with aveage skating and skill.

huh? Everything was exactly as expected? Yet you didn't see anything so you have no way of knowing what happened and if it was exactly what you expected.

I'm sorry but that comment makes no sense, maybe you meant to write something else?

Yeah maybe but Donskoi was too good already for liiga.
And he's mature but Lehkonen is still bit raw.

That how Donskoi cracked for Sharks NHL roster without any single game in AHL.
Was something what we haven't seen before there's no many 23 yrs old player who took his spot in NHL team for his first season in north america.

And that's the difference between Lehkonen and Donskoi.
Time will show can Lehkonen made same but we'll see that later perhaps next autumn.

Kapanen has underperformed in international play I agree, but making a conclusion that he was exactly as bad as you expected when you didn't watch the game makes no sense.

Not at all that uncommon, actually. Well, for a Finn, perhaps.

---

As far as the game goes, it was still practice. We didn't have our best possible lineup on the ice, so in the reserves we still have players pretty nice. And sounds like some of our heavy hitters were having jitters. Kappy was crappy, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of doubt too, since it was his very first game in this environment and under Jalonen.

Sure, this could all be the prelude to yet another epic disaster, but there are a lot of means to excuse this performance too. Maybe they won't be fully there even by them, but we have every reason to expect a better game on Wednesday.

Now... it's a bit difficult to say anything about the guys who are still vying for spots without seeing the game, but I guess there'd be little reason to be surprised if Kalapudas makes the team after all.

Something like this, perhaps...

Kapanen - Hintz - Rantanen
Saarela - Nättinen - Repo
Laine - Aho - Puljujärvi
Lammikko - Siikonen - Kalapudas

Hey we are Finns.. Always negative and overreacting about losses, it doesn't matter when. But that's why I like being a Finn so much. Awesome people.

Dont worry, swiss people are basically the same. Lots of negativity in general. Seems like habs fans clones.

To come back to the game, i hope it will give confidence to Switzerland. The line Malgin-Rod-Riat is perhaps the best and was keep away from the sheets.
