It was supposed to be Simmonds' role though?

I mean, I meant more "dress a goon". Not for the deterring bullshit that never works, but to absolutely ruin a guy like Chiarot's face after he does dirty shit as usual.

Exactly this, obviously not for 82 games just the ones that we will get roughed up in.

I don't think Gabriel is "the guy" for that as their are plenty of guys that will fight, but f*** the Habs

You might want to look at the size of Tampa last year vs us
can't wait until Dubas gets fired and his fan club stops regurgitating his non sense

i remember when Burke was here and his guys were all "yea baby we're going to beat the crap out of people to the cup''

i wonder what the new GM's motto will be that our true fans will jump on . lol

Tough period to get anything going. 4 minor penalties. Most of which were deserving penalties. Gotta be more disciplined.

Hard to stand out in a positive way when you’re down a man half the period. First goal was a lucky bounce to Anderson putting him all alone. 2nd goal was really nice. Deserve to be down.

I didn’t really have much issue with any of the calls. But the fact Montreal didn’t get called on anything until the very end of the period was a joke. Even despite that we still managed to outshoot them somehow.

I mean Gusev got cross checked in the face with no call as just one example.

The problem is both of these GMs were too onsided. You can find a good mix, a lot of GMs have found that

Anyone catch Mike Johnsons dig at Marner in how he's heard that Marners has said he's been working on his shot for years?
Wish they'd zone in more on miks misses and how they add up to a negative impact.

I mean, anyone else in the lineup and we're off to round 2. It was a classic Mik fan-job that didn't end the game in regulation. All the misses all season long was the best foreshadowing you could ask for.

Marner was 6th in EVG last year... his shot is underrated

it’s all about where he is shooting from. Where he was on the pp last year did him no favours. He needs to be in closer like he will be. He’s not beating many goalies clean from long range

I'm sure no matter what it is you'll find a way to bitch about it.

Dubas doesn't care about size, skill comes first, also the Leafs aren't small.

I don't understand some of your obsessions with size... the biggest team doesn't win every year.

Gabriel is there for only that. It's a guarantee you'll see him if you act tough. Its different mentally.

And yes I'm not saying all 82 games *
Gabriel likely makes the team as the 13th forward. For his good locker room personality, and for games that're bound to get rough

He has a muffin from the outside, but he can beat goalies clean from inside the diamond, I think his shot gets severally underrated because he doesn't have the power to score from too far out

Well you don't have to win every year but bigger teams who can skate are always competitive and they are always in the mix

Even great skilled Detroit had tough big boys. LA, Boston, Chicago were all big teams
You can argue maybe Pens weren't.

If you look at most competitive teams last 10 years, San Jose, Anaheim, LA, Chicago, Boston, Vegas, St.Louis

So one can argue, size does matter

He scored 1 goal last year from distance that wasn't deflected. The rest were empty net or tap ins from the blue paint.

I didn't know goals scored at close range were less valuable than those scored at long range?

If Matthews scores 60g this season, even if they were all within 10ft of the net, I'd be ecstatic.

Who cares if Mitch doesn't score from long range as long as he produces in the playoffs, whether he is digging for rebounds or sniping from the top of the circle.
