I mean, I meant more "dress a goon". Not for the deterring bullshit that never works, but to absolutely ruin a guy like Chiarot's face after he does dirty shit as usual.

I don't think Gabriel is "the guy" for that as their are plenty of guys that will fight, but f*** the Habs
Kinda weird to think it’s been almost 10 years since the leafs could dress 3 willing fighters on a line though. Burkie is smiling somewhere at that

I didn't know goals scored at close range were less valuable than those scored at long range?

If Matthews scores 60g this season, even if they were all within 10ft of the net, I'd be ecstatic.

Who cares if Mitch doesn't score from long range as long as he produces in the playoffs, whether he is digging for rebounds or sniping from the top of the circle.
You've never heard of the three point shot in hockey?

Gabriel likely makes the team as the 13th forward. For his good locker room personality, and for games that're bound to get rough

If you need a good locker room guy for personality and actually fight odd games, there are plenty of players in NHL who can do that

If Gabriel is your 13th forward, you don't have a good team

You need guys who can play physical and contribute. Can't be one without the other

I didn’t really have much issue with any of the calls. But the fact Montreal didn’t get called on anything until the very end of the period was a joke. Even despite that we still managed to outshoot them somehow.

I mean Gusev got cross checked in the face with no call as just one example.
Ya I agree. I didn’t think the calls themselves were overly egregious, but those plays happened on both sides all period TBH.

Hard to get a real assessment on the players in a game like this TBH.

It’s also hard to get a read on any of our forward groups in any circumstance. I think the only possible pair of forwards that look poised to start the year on the same line tonight might be Ritchie and marner. The rest of the lines are a bit of a dogs breakfast TBH. Let alone the D-pairs

Well you don't have to win every year but bigger teams who can skate are always competitive and they are always in the mix

Even great skilled Detroit had tough big boys. LA, Boston, Chicago were all big teams
You can argue maybe Pens weren't.

If you look at most competitive teams last 10 years, San Jose, Anaheim, LA, Chicago, Boston, Vegas, St.Louis

So one can argue, size does matter

Toronto has some deceptively large players, like Matthews, or Rielly (depends on how you classify size), if you want to argue how the size is used, that's another thing, but most of the people complaining about size are just projecting their GF's concerns

I was really hoping Dreger might have sailed into the sunset with Hughson, oh well cant have everything...back to denigrating all your hated Leafs

No doubt. Boston actually had handful of players that were considered big. They have players who play big
Rich Peverly was 5'11 dude was a warrior
Marchant, Bergy, Psta, they play bigger than their size

Disagree. Gabriel has his spot in the lineup at certain times. Team about to f*** around and find Gabriel

Yep, and that's a different convo to have... I think those players have their roles and I think Toronto has some, we can argue if they have enough but a guy like Bunting fits that role as a smaller player.

How have the guys been? I haven’t been able to watch the game. Score looks unfavourable
