slow puck movement on the PP definitely seems to be a primary issue. Our guys receive a pass and just hold onto the puck. they need to move it...even if it just means passing it back and forth a couple times between the same two players. It needs to be quick...to get the PKrs moving to create space. Other teams do it to us so easily. Passing the puck without even thinking about taking a shot...just move it between open guys a few times really quick and get the defenders skating around.

That was much better 5v5 play. Much better.

Nice game from Laine. They will write on his soon-to-be erected tombstone: "You hit like a girl, Chara"

Like many have mentioned, the PP is such weak sauce that they need to overhaul it completely. Pionk taking low-percentage shots from the point all day is exactly the opposite of what they should be doing. They should avoid that play like the plague, but it was the same with Buff so it's clearly by design. The system was good for a while in the beginning but everyone and their mamas know what they are trying to do now.

And it boggles the mind how we don't use Ehlers at all. I'm sure you all know him, he is the fast guy who created our only goal in this game with his zone-entry and quick pass to the net. You can spot him at times on the ice if you don't blink. He would be a major asset on the PP and could be an asset on the PK (Connor PK'ing is insane).

Rask is a good goalie.
Those low percentage shots from the point are by design. The PP didn't score but could have had 4 last night. Another person saying that Pionk shoots 82 mph muffins from the point. Shot velocity from the point is not as important as getting it through and Pionk did that consistently last night. The Jets had 3 or 4 deflections off of those shots that on another night go in.

As for his super slow passes to Laine? Well, if Laine's shot was more accurate last night he too could have had a couple of goals on the PP.

Our PK on the other hand is abysmal. We just give up the blue line and stand around. It doesn't work, try something else ffs.

Go watch an actual Caps PP. Alex literally stands still and waits. And teams leave him there. On purpose.

Why would they do that if the guy is going to go down in history as the most prolific scorer in NHL history? If you are going to say it is easier to predict what will happen, I don't buy it because at 34 years old he is having one of his best scoring years of his career.

The Jets have always seemed puck slow and very perimeter to me. Our PP seems like a direct product of this mindset. I think they are puck slow because that the only way they know how to protect the puck. Laine basically seems to need a backdoor, wide open net to score. He used to actually beat the goalie consistently. But now it needs to be a back door play. I miss when he could score by just shooting.

Very good game, very entertaining to watch. Jets played hard vs one of the top teams and just lost the game and possibly deserved the win. Not sure how anyone who watched that game couldn’t live that game even if we didn’t win it.

Because they just let the goalie handle it. Sitting on his dick didn't work because the rest of the PP is so lethal too.

Basically nothing works, because he's so good, though.

But you don't have to believe me, just catch a Caps game.

Hmmm. Trying to square that with why every? other team in the league has a guy with a decent/hard shot at the point on the powerplay. Hmmm. I guess we are unique by design. If only our uniqueness resulted in actual success.
