what would Hawks fans want from Colorado for Murphy at 50% retained?
My guess is they’ll ask for a first

1st, 2nd and 50% of Backstrom
Caps aren’t doing that

If Korchinski keeps this up, I could see them trading Kaiser relatively soon. It’s getting crowded and he hasn’t shown a lot.
No reason to trade anyone yet. Folks can go to Rockford to play and help them defensively

Fair enough, I would say Ritchie would be too rich for my taste so it would boil down to a 2026 first.

It would be something I’d have to think about, but I appreciate the insight!
You got my juices going though. About a month ago on this board, I proposed a trade of Mrazek (50% retained), Nolan Allan, and Nick Lardis for Georgiev and Ritchie. I got blasted by Hawks fans for it but what would an Avs fan say? This was obviously before the Blackwood deal.

Regarding Murphy 50% retained, a 26 1st might do it. But would a D prospect like Nolan Allan or Wyatt Kaiser and Nick Lardis be enough to pry Ritchie away if you took the draft pick out of the deal?

In short, no to both.

For those who care for a longer answer, it’s not the sort of trade the Avs should make as it’s very short sighted when dealing with a prospect of Ritchie’s caliber. Now granted, I’m not sure I know enough about these prospects you have mentioned to make a full assessment on value of each option. With that being said, the bulk of the Avs prospects which we have real hopes for (as few as there are) are on the back end.

In addition to that, I’m of the mindset that Ritchie should only be included in a trade that provides a clear upgrade with term to the team. A player who wouldn’t typically be available, but by adding Ritchie could fall into the “God-father” offer.

Ritchie has only improved his stock since being drafted, in a draft I considered to be fairly deep, so it’s not something easy to do. He’s dominated the OHL this year, is projected to be on team Canada’s first line at the WJC as an assistant captain, and has shown flashes at the NHL of what he could become.

Hope that provides some insight at least from one Avs fan.
