Why do so many put the second best sniper on the third line. Is this common practice in NHL?

oh yeah accari on 4th line for sureTwo Kerfoots are better than one
Similar to what I was thinking, only difference would be swapping Marner with Nylander. Having O’Reilly and Marner together defensively can easily go up against any line of Tampas and then we still have our main shutdown line available. How crazy am I on a scale from 1-10?

Just want to see a couple of regular season games with this look.
Come back when you have some actual facts to back up what you’re saying. But that means I probably won’t be hearing from you again. He;s been a scrub his whole career.
He'll be the most hated Leaf the second Holl is off the team and fans need someone else to blame everything on.
Why put your second-best player on the third line, and a player with absolutely no NHL experience on the second?Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Knies - Tavares - Jarnkrok
Lafferty - ROR - Nylander
Kerfoot - Kampf - Acciari
Keefe will load up on icing/ozone draws
His career speaks for itself. Bottom pair Dman on garbage teams. Dubas was desperate and paid a kings ransom.Come back when you have some actual facts to back up what you’re saying. But that means I probably won’t be hearing from you again.
I'd flip Tavares and Lafferty. Like what I've seen of Lafferty in the middle. Why put your second-best player on the third line, and a player with absolutely no NHL experience on the second?

makes more sense.
I assume you've watched him in his first games with us - what's your take? His being a plus on the sorry Hawks this year seems rather extraordinary. Oh, and he was the guy who jumped in to take on Myers after that brutal hit on Tavares. Not sure how that shows up on the stat sheet. His career speaks for itself. Bottom pair Dman on garbage teams. Dubas was desperate and paid a kings ransom.
Agreed. I liked what I saw of Lafferty, and I think JT is better suited to the wing now.I'd flip Tavares and Lafferty. Like what I've seen of Lafferty in the middle.

Better than the options a few years ago, when the big decision was which of the three third lines started.I could get onside with a lot of these line-ups.
Having options is fun.
I think Nylander should have top line minutes. If he can have that on third line then why not.As long as the line plays a lot, which they would, how would it be a bad thing? Nylander has looked terrific all year. It might be time to ride this “3rd line” experiment for the stretch run and see if he’s capable of driving his own line. If he is, and all indications are he likely can, then you have Matthews/Marner/Tavares/O’Reilly split in pairs between 1 and 2, and Nylander to spread the offense around. May not be the way we go, but it’s not the worst idea at all.
The third line has to be a factor this year. So someone out of the 5 is going there, and I like nylander in some ways as an offensive catalyst there over ROR or JT.
Using just about any of those proposed line combinations, and giving ice time based on how well the lines are doing in that game, you could easily see that.I think Nylander should have top line minutes. If he can have that on third line then why not.
His play since we acquired him speaks for itself. Solid, steady, willing to stand up for his teammates. It’s not the first time a player on a bottom dweller with not great numbers has gone to a playoff team and played well, and it surely won’t be the last time. His career speaks for itself. Bottom pair Dman on garbage teams. Dubas was desperate and paid a kings ransom.
Fun fact. McCabe has never lost a playoff game.Come back when you have some actual facts to back up what you’re saying. But that means I probably won’t be hearing from you again.
And we all know there’s always a 1st time!!! GLG!Fun fact. McCabe has never lost a playoff game.
So far I think he's an absolute beauty and the trade seems like a steal.
