Simmonds, Holmberg?

Rielly-Brodie
Giordano-Liljegren
Gustafson-Holl
McCabe-Schenn
Benn-Timmins

Bottom 6 depth looks thin w/o Engvall tbh. I dont think any of the D we brought in should play over Holl. Gustafsson seems to be having the best season of the bunch
Have you seen McCabe play? It appears not. Just wow!

I don't think Knies will be playing on the second line because he hasn't played a single NHL game and not enough time before the playoffs to get him acclimatized. No guarantee he'll even sign. He also normally plays LW and too hard for a guy with no experience to switch to RW.

I don't agree with that top line.

Until there is some significant change, Mitch and Willy are our best players, and the main drivers. I think it's a much better plan to give them each their own line.

Ok I’m sold on that new Nylander line tonight :)…Playoffs starting lineup

Bunting-Matty-Marner
JT-OReily-Knies
Jarnkrok-Laff-Nylander
Kerfoot-Kampf-Achari
The Lafferty line would be the second line, not the third, and I'm not sure throwing a rookie in on his wrong wing in the playoffs is a good idea.

Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Knies - Tavares - Jarnkrok
Lafferty - ROR - Nylander
Kerfoot - Kampf - Acciari

Keefe will load up on icing/ozone draws

It’s crazy cause you can literally load up with Tavares - Matthews - Marner and then come back out with O’Reilly - Nylander…

Holl is perfectly fine in the right role. When he’s asked to play above that role, that’s where the issues and mistakes start happening.

Giordano - Holl third pairing would be ideal.

McCabe - Brodie
Rielly - Liljegren
Giordano - Holl
These are the perfect pairs imo

McCabe - Brodie is a stud duo who will log the heavy matchups. I absolutely love McCabe's game and feel he's been the antidote to the issue we've had on the left side since Muzzin left. Not as physical as Muzz, but he has a great stick and is better offensively. Come playoff time they will get the Point/Kucherov matchup and should be playing 22+ minutes. Thankfully it appears Keefe already agrees with this

Rielly - Liljergen is one of the 2 pairs this season where I've felt Rielly has been decent (other being Rielly - Brodie obviously). Lilly has great mobility and can cover for Mo's inevitable terrible decision making. You give these guys more offensive zone starts against relatively weaker competition and let Rielly create some offense

Gio - Holl is a very good defensive pair that can get the secondary matchups McCabe - Brodie do not. They'll likely have more defensive zone starts with the prime scoring opportunities going to Rielly/Lilly. This will also allow us to use Holl late in games and on the PK, two areas where he does pretty well

We don't have a stud number 1 defenseman like a McAvoy/Fox/Makar, but I feel like this lineup gives us 3 really solid pairs that excel in various aspects of the game

I've been thinking exactly this for a while. A bit unrealistic to just expect a college player to jump in the lineup and mesh at playoff time. I don't see it happening for various reasons but we'll see.

like it a lot. wouldn't mind swapping jarn and laff to balance out the scoring either tbh.

But that's nitpicking.

KErfoot needs to be stapled to the fourth line as that is the only way he can be a net positive for us.

You know who we need to come in on D?

This guy:

5v5 the last 2 weeks (and rank out of the 157 Dmen league-wide to play 80+ minutes):

Ozone starts: 40%
Shots Against/60: 21.39 (10th lowest out of 157)
xGA/60: 2.22 (34 lowest out of 157)
Hits/60: 8.43 (17th highest out of 157)
Blocked shots/60: 7.23 (11th highest out of 157)
Giveaways/60: 0.6 (21st fewest out of 157)

Crazy good defensive numbers in heavy defensive usage while being a strong physical presence and safe with the puck and puts his body on the line....oh and a +4 (65.85 Goal differential).

Where do we sign up right!

OH Wait!, we already got that guy. thats just Holl. Fire him into the Sun!!!

I think sone leafs fan just love hating holl... we can take last game as exemple... im pretty sure you asking what they saw from holl and they will tell the fact he missed to clear the puck in the corner on samsonov juicy rebound and blame it to be 100 % the reason of that goal...

But you take the same exact game and you switch name of holl and liljegren... what you will heard, what an amaizing game and would talk about phenomenal pass he made to kampf for game tying goal

Overreaction to everything he did wrong but never get any credit for what he had been good at

How crazy am I on a scale from 1-10?

Bunting-Matthews-Marner
Jarnkrok-O'Reilly-Nylander
Knies-Tavares-Kerfoot
Kampf-Accari-Laf

Just want to see a couple of regular season games with this look.

If knies produces and they keep Tavares at LW we are stacked at LW

LW: Bunting, Tavares, Knies
C: Matthew, O’Reilly, Lafferty
RW Marner, Nylander, Jarnkrok
Now, after O'Reilly is injured and will be the 4 weeks, none of yall should not be dreaming of anything like tavares and o'reilly playing on the same line again. That will not happen. Tavares is our second line C and thats that. Thats the way and thats who we go into the playoffs. Period. RoR will come back there and line our dirty third line and make them better. We are not destroying our healthy, chemistry wise going second line come playoff time, just because a low producing but yet fine center in RoR is coming back. He will do us other goods. And yall can bank on that there. I know everything about life. Yall see.

When/If Knies signs, I'd like to see him have a good look with Marner for a few games:

Knies - Matthews - Marner
Bunting - Tavares - Nylander
Kerfoot - O'Reilly - Jarnkrok
Lafferty - Kampf - Accari

Have to give McMann, Steeves, and Holmberg better looks as well. Not catching the Bruins, likely not falling below Tampa. Now's the time to experiment; especially with O'Reilly and Tavares ailing.

Why do so many put the second best sniper on the third line. Is this common practice in NHL?
