All of the top teams in action lost. Canes lost so they didn't gain any ground.

Meh, I think the team is out of gas at this point. They've played a buttload of games recently. Now they get some well needed rest to nurse lingering injuries and have some quality practice sessions together.

That's the problem with an intense schedule, you don't get any time to practice and hone things.

It’s not as if Kakko and Laf haven’t been given the opportunity. Hunt is only there because the other two couldn’t get anything going in that role.

Its very hard to score continuously in this league without getting PP time. I am not sure if its fair to say that someone have been given a chance when that player haven't been given any PP time at all basically. It's not only direct scoring from the PP, it's also a rotation thing.

I've no problem whatsoever with Hunt on Panarin's line 5 on 5. But until we get these kids some PP time, we are basically snoozing their offensive development. IMHO.

Team was on their heels in the first, then outplayed the Preds the rest of the way. Saros was both great and incredibly thankful that the Rangers squandered so many of their chances. How many times did they miss the net from the slot? How many times did we tee it up instead of one-timing the puck? How many times did they make an unnecessary pass instead of shooting?

The same issue continues to be the main cause for concern, that we aren't getting steady production from secondary players and Mika continues to look off his game.

So many of our slot chances ended up as blocked shots, tons of sticks in passing lanes, and tight checking from Nashville. We weren't good along the boards in either zone. A few missed calls especially at the end but shit happens, and good teams find a way past that. Like GG said, it was a big boy game last night and we didn't play a big boy game.

Yeah the first pp unit has been playing great but they shouldn’t be out for 90s every power play. Thought that would end with Quinn, but Gallant had them take a face off with 40s left in a pp in the third when they’d been out there the whole time. As good as they are, no way they’re better than a fresh second unit at that point

I understood it was a situational decision. Down a goal against a stingy team, he wanted his best unit out there.

Agree. Still much better than last year's team, which would've done absolutely nothing for 60 minutes. They had a lot of possession time. Still need to try to adapt to a lunch pail offense in these big boy games. Too much holding on to the puck looking for the better shot when that was the time to shoot.

Time for Lafreniere to get some time in the A. He is not an NHL player right now

Tied for third in goals on the team. Doesn’t belong in the NHL.
This board gets a little loopy after a close loss. You could argue the A would be good for him but to say he’s not an NHL player is a bit bonkers.
Game could have gone either way, Nashville is not a joke. Came in and swept the area.
The good thing about the Col and this game is maybe people calming down about trading prospects and 1st rounders for rentals. This team will make the playoffs and the young players will get experience. If we are lucky they will have a decent shot at the Cup NEXT year.

Gallant had PP1 take a faceoff with 50 seconds left on the powerplay after playing the first 1:10. They were generating chances, but still. They should spread the talent between two units or something. PP2 is getting meaningless mop up duty.

Why? PP1 is more likely to score than PP2 so why would he take them off in a 1 goal game? He's trying to win the game.

With a player like Kaner maby?

Not there yet, this would be what the old rangers would do then continue to add each year chasing it until we depleted assets and cap to the point we cant compete. We need our kids to be good before we can compete, skipping that step just makes it harder to win consistently.

Missed the 1st but the 2nd & 3rd they were clearly the better team. Saros stole it.

I will say that this was Kakko's worst game since his rookie year. Over passing, bad turnovers. Zibanejad too needs to stop constantly bitching to the refs and actually play his game with a shred of confidence. he is the best scorer on the team and is afraid to shoot the puck for some unknown reason. Lastly, the clock is ticking on Chytil. Hes got tools but he cant finish to save his life.

They have back to back road games on Tuesday and Wednesday, and then a home game on Friday. After that the schedule lightens up.

I think Jones is next in line. And handedness fits. But that said, GG seems to really lean on Nemeth. I don’t see him coming out of the lineup anytime soon. Injuries happen, of course.

He most certainly is, that was more about the style of Schneider vs what Nemeth brings. Can't wait for them both! :)

I guess it’s a question of whether 1:30 with a super unit is better than 2:00 with two good units.

And all those goals minus one of them have been tap ins. He's generated literally 0 offense this season. He needs top line minutes in the A and PP1 time.

Anyone else see Strome bang the puck around the boards behind the net towards Panarin when he had more time to make a better decision.

He really is a dumb dumb most of the time.
Likely a bit shy of some body contact....there are a few up front like that . Those are the guys you identify as short term Rangers and hopefully don't have long term NTC deals attached to their names.....wishful thinking I know....LOL...
