Sammy Blais getting hurt seems to have helped Gauthier come to life, but it's a big loss and tonight makes that obvious.

We're a really young team still. Three of our top four defensemen, three of our RWs, our starting goaltender, and Lafreniere haven't even played a full 82 game season before. You can't expect us to steamroll start to finish.

I think that game was handed to the preds by the officials. I do think we have a lot of room for improvement that will hopefully come with time. October we were as bad as the Coyotes but with a phenomenal goalie. November we were as dominant as Tampa. December has been a mixed bag. As long as we trend up, it's all good.

Officiating left some things to be desired tonight. Not sure why when Trouba lays a clean hit the other team seems to always get to commit 2 or 3 infractions against him with no penalty.

NHL refs are cowards. Game management and all. It's almost like its accepted to go after a guy after a clean check and not get penalized. I just don't understand this reasoning.

JMHO but the difference between this year and last year in a game like this are still very obvious and substantial. When we played games like this last year, we lost 4 or 5 to nothing, not 1 to nothing. Preds had the edge (though they should've been in the box a lot more), but it wasn't a big edge. We played them tight too.

old man player like panarins needing to taking reponsibilities at playing time. he needing to stepping aside and maybe saying off thing at his contract? meaning if there is something there saying he must playing as much he wants, he must be at ice when opponent goal empty is etc etc.

We played this way the entire month of October, and came out with a good record. They kept it close in a game where they were outplayed.

FWIW, this is exhibit A for why I still have questions about this group particularly the C group being able to produce offense down the stretch and into the playoffs. When the ice gets clogged up and there are fewer PPs, they often struggle to break through to create chances.

They did it today better than most AV coached teams. When the Rangers under AV played a team like this, especially in the third period (outside of Carolina probably because they sucked and their goaltending sucked) they wouldn't even look like an NHL team. The Rangers were still generating chances. This the second game we got shutout this season, why are people making it seem like this happens every other night?

ya he hustles but really, we're losing the war to win the battle by not giving 24/13 more ice time by insisting a hustling 4th liner is fit to play with Panarin.
