They’re absolutely going to have to make a trade for another Top 6 RW. I like Kakko with Strome and Panarin, Zibanejad and Kreider need a line mate to complete their line.

Chytil is a real disappointment. They need him to take his game to the next level, and he just hasn’t. He’s really skilled, but has no finish at all.

They could just put Lafreniere there instead of him trying to feed two guys who may never score until they're in gents league.

I could understand this complaint if he was actually setting them up, but he doesn't. He's a non-factor most of the time.

You can't play a playmaker with two guys who will either never shoot or will do nothing with it when you pass it to them. Replacing Hunt in the top 6 with Lafreniere won't make us worse.

Nashville plays the most basic game you can play. Crash bang crash, six goalie system, block everything including interfere if you have to. There was not one skill play from them in 60 minutes.

They were missing their 2 most skilled players outside of Forsberg so that explains some of it.

Can we end the Hunt experiment? Maybe I'm off but the team has played much worse at 5v5 ever since Kakko moved to Zibs line.

we have to be the worst / dumbest team in the league on the forecheck...there's so many plays per game we're there to make a play and we close on guys on the wrong shoulder...what could so easily be a hit to pin or close guys off on the right side of the puck we might actually control a few

5 on 5 is a mess in general though. mika line was pinned deep all night running around. every line just runs around in our own zone, some just spend more time than others. nashville is an annoying team for sure but this isn't a new issue...we go up and down with in zone play, but we're still pretty easy to stretch and open the middle...some games we look cleaner getting the puck out than others but against competent teams we're not hard to find ice against.

5 on 5 offense is so bad, panarin line is only one that can create offense. mika's shown his legs a bit lately but still can't create possession and good chances for himself and his linemates. the kid line needs to do something...they've gone backwards lately. chytil...he's tough not to be writing off at the moment. not just the fact he is horrific when he gets his chances...he's just too easy to play in his own end. may be time to light a fire under lafs ass, he's fallen off again.

on the bright side, hajek looked very solid and much, much better than nils. keep him in. and georgiev looked like an nhl goalie which would be a nice thing to have moving forward. trouba is a beast...slap the c on him.

finally...nothing better than kreider and mika discussing plays on o zone faceoffs as if mika doesn't lose 100% of them clean

Too many overreactions per usual after a loss. They played well last 2 periods but other team gets paid also. Sauros was good and refs sucked again. Thats why banking the points early was so important because of the inevitable regression. This team wasn't going to always play on 125 point pace. I don't agree with everything Gallant does or his line deployment but I trust the guy to do the right thing for the long term success of this team although it may seem frustrating right now. He's a good coach.

I think that might’ve been the ugliest team we’ve played all season.

Also seemed like a glaring lack of penalties called on a team that was taking a lot of runs at guys that didn’t have the puck all night.

It's a crosscheck calling season I think. They'll do an interference one next.

Mika not shooting the puck is just absolutely infuriating. In prime areas he's looking to pass no matter what look he actually has. There's nothing wrong with being pass first overall, but he's not only pass first right now he's pass first through fifteenth. He's just completely abandoning his shot as an option which makes n sense because he's a goal scorer.

Officiating left some things to be desired tonight. Not sure why when Trouba lays a clean hit the other team seems to always get to commit 2 or 3 infractions against him with no penalty.

FWIW, this is exhibit A for why I still have questions about this group particularly the C group being able to produce offense down the stretch and into the playoffs. When the ice gets clogged up and there are fewer PPs, they often struggle to break through to create chances.
