Bedard
Fantilli
Carlsson

Then it’s sort of crap shoot with Smtih and Michkov likely the next 2 but even then the Russian factor will see him drop a lot I’d imagine.

I do think that MTL is going to do very well in this draft, considering that they have the #5 pick. They will have one of Carlsson, Michkov, or Smith to choose from. Carlsson would be a no brainer, Michkov intriguing because of the promise of his star power for a team that craves one, and Smith would be a nice consolation prize.
Does Montreal still have problem for choosing Russians? Last time I checked, the new ownership isn't fan of drafting Russians early.

If all 4 top tier centers are gone(bedard, fantilli, smith, carlsson) before Montreal's pick, it would be interesting to see if they would pick Michkov or somebody else.

What you like about Wood and Dvorak’s to have them that high?

You think Moore sneaks into the top 10?

Not a fan of Simashev in the first round?

Wow! I don't recall if your previous mock strayed this much from "conventional" projections ... but I can't say it isn't interesting and worthy of discussion.

As a Hawks fan I watched a lot of Seattle T-bird games over the past several months because (3) Hawks prospects are on the team. Consequently I've seen Sawchyn play a lot and I really like him and would love for the Hawks to draft him ... but at #9? He's got good offensive skills and is very creative, even though he tries to be too creative at times as many young players do - but I just don't think he's the 9th best player in the draft. I was hoping the Hawks could get him in the 2nd round.

i, like you have yager rated higher than most. but people much smarter than i, seem to have him much lower. outside of he might not be able to gain some weight (strength) and not playing in the u-18 do you see any reason for his drop?
That was from June of last year haha.

But I am still relatively high on him, he will he 9th in my final rankings. I think the biggest reason is his relatively pedestrian numbers this season. I still heavily believe in his upside however.

Stating the obvious, but Wood, Sawchyn, Brindley, and Musty are far higher than most would rate them.

Wood - you seem to be fine with ignoring his skating weaknesses, and fact that he doesn't play C, in comparison to Smith, Fantilli, and Dvorsky. You must think that he has unusual high hockey sense to rate him so highly, in addition to his size and skill.

Brindley- I'm assuming that his skating will make up for his lack of size, allowing him to skate out of trouble?

Musty - I'm interested that you rate him higher than other "toolsy" prospects like Honzek and Barlow. His inconsistency(hinting at lack of motivation) doesn't scare you off?

You have Barlow, and especially, Danielson and Yager, far lower than most. Danielson was one that was lower ranked by many, then climbed the lists as the year came to an end. I think many see a Lundell type there. You don't agree?

Many think Yager is one of the many skilled forwards that make this class so strong. Not a fan, or think that his skills will not translate to higher levels?

All fair questions, I readily admit that a lot of my rankings are going to vary greatly in comparison to the majority of lists.

I really really like Wood's combination of IQ, shot, hands, and size. His skating isn't as bad as others make it out to be either, and I think he still has a lot of maturing to do physically. Lots of similarities to Patrik Laine.

Brindley is a woodchipper with tons of skill to boot. One of the best things about him is his processor IMO, which will make him a successful scorer at the next level. He rarely makes a bad play with the puck, and is awesome in small spaces. Reminds me a bit of Jesper Bratt.

Musty - I actually had him much higher at times. I do think he is one of the bigger boom/bust players in this draft, and I like picking for upside. It's hard to tell from the outside how his actual motivation is, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't concerned a bit. But he's got a quick release and isn't shy about using it. His vision is also pretty underrated IMO.

I have footspeed concerns with Barlow, and I think a lot of his dominant play this year is more due to maturing early than projectable NHL talent. I like Danielson but I question his offensive upside.

Yager reminds me a bit of Curtis Lazar at the same age. A lot of his offense comes from scenarios you don't see as often in the NHL IMO. He excels when he's able to wind it up a bit and take advantage of his talent, but in tighter spaces I think he struggles.
